Overview
Can one still surprise when one is called the Panigale V4 S? After a first generation that shattered the certainties of the supersport segment and put Japanese manufacturers in a delicate position, the 2025 version carries a heritage as heavy as a cast iron block. Ducati understood this and chose surgical evolution rather than a flashy revolution. The result is a machine that no longer seeks to provoke immediate astonishment, but convinces through the accumulation of details worked to obsession.

The silhouette speaks first. The flanks have been recut with a precision more reminiscent of the work of an aeronautical stylist than that of an automotive designer. The winglets now integrate into the bodywork as if they had always been there, without the grafted appearance that characterized some previous developments. The ergonomics have been completely redesigned, and the single-sided swingarm has given way to a more structurally refined solution. Under this robe, the 90-degree V4 of 1103 cm³ produces 216 horsepower at 13,500 rpm, with a torque of 120.9 Nm available at 11,250 rpm. These figures of the Ducati Panigale V4 S still have an effect on paper, but it is the semi-perimeter aluminum frame, optimized for torsional stiffness to improve feedback when cornering, that really conditions how this power is expressed on the road.
It is precisely on the S version that the technical specifications become serious. The Öhlins NPX 25/30 43 mm fork and the TTX36 mono-shock constitute a suspension system managed electronically by the Smart EC 3.0 system. Purist racers may regret the absence of manual adjustments, but Ducati reserves the V4 R for that, at a price that quickly puts things into perspective. Forged aluminum rims, a lithium battery, and an Öhlins steering damper allow a weight of 187 kg to be displayed, fully fueled, or 4 kg less than the standard version. The power-to-weight ratio is around 1.15 hp/kg, which places the Ducati Panigale V4 S 2025 in a territory where the BMW M 1000 RR and the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP are directly in the crosshairs.

The onboard electronics deserve attention. The DVO, Ducati Vehicle Observer, simulates telemetry with 70 sensors to refine in real time the strategies for traction control, anti-wheelie, and launch control. This is Bologna’s response to Kawasaki’s KCMF, with the same philosophy of anticipating dynamic behaviors before they occur. The five riding modes cover a wide spectrum, from Race A, which releases the 216 hp with a direct response and minimal electronic intervention, to Wet mode, which limits power to 160 hp and considerably softens the throttle for slippery surfaces. Race eCBS, developed with Bosch, automatically modulates the rear brake in the manner of professional riders, while the new Brembo Hypure calipers at the front succeed the Stylema with an announced gain in lightness and thermal dissipation. The 6.9-inch cinema format TFT screen centralizes all of this in an interface that has little to envy to automotive dashboards.

At €34,690, the Ducati Panigale V4 S price positions the machine clearly out of reach of the occasional rider. This is not a motorcycle to learn on, nor to commute on. It is a precision tool intended for those who already master the fundamentals of sporty riding and want a machine capable of accompanying progress towards the track without ever reaching a technical ceiling. The 850 mm seat height and the very committed riding position further confirm that we are not seeking to seduce a versatile audience. Those who know the previous generations from the 2019 model to the 2020 and 2021 versions will find an assumed continuity in the DNA, with refinements substantial enough to justify the update. Others may look to the used market to approach this legend at a less committed price.
