Overview
How can you justify nearly twenty-five thousand euros for an 800 cm3 sport trail, when the competition offers inline twins with high torque for ten thousand euros less? The answer lies in three letters: MV. Specifically, this MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC SCS, a machine where Italian passion for aesthetics and precision mechanics reaches its peak. It’s not a motorcycle for everyone; it’s an object of desire for those who place pure sensation and style above simple performance-price ratio.

Beneath its civilized GT appearance, this Turismo Veloce hides a sporty temperament. Its 798 cm3 three-cylinder engine, a direct descendant of Moto2 experiences, is a small marvel of liveliness. With 110 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and 84 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm, it doesn’t seek the overwhelming torque peak of a twin, but offers an elasticity and a sonically captivating progression. Euro5 compliance, discreet on the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC SCS 2020’s evolutions, has even improved its mid-range filling. Paired with the six-speed gearbox and bi-directional shifter, it offers a precise and engaging riding experience, far removed from the placidity of some trails.
The real technical feat lies in its SCS system, the Smart Clutch System. Here, there’s no clutch lever on the left: the clutch management is entirely automatic. An innovation that might seem like a gimmick, but proves to be surprisingly smooth in town or on winding mountain passes, relieving the rider of a task so they can focus on the pleasure. This operational comfort is reinforced by a chassis with surprising agility for a 199 kg dry weight trail. The steel trellis frame, semi-active Sachs suspensions, and Brembo brakes form a coherent and high-end ensemble, capable of transitioning from touring to sustained pace without a brutal shift.

Yet, this MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC SCS is not without contradictions. Its price, 24,600 euros, places it in a very exclusive orbit, facing machines like the Ducati Multistrada V2 or the BMW F 900 XR, which are much more affordable and equally versatile. Its 830 mm seat, although lowered, remains engaging. And while the equipment is complete with cruise control, cases, heated grips, and a connected TFT dashboard, one can regret the absence of a signature sporty exhaust on this Reparto Corse version, a detail that would have completed the picture.

Ultimately, this machine is not for the pragmatic tourer. It targets the demanding enthusiast, the aesthete for whom a motorcycle is a mechanical sculpture as much as a means of transport. The Reparto Corse livery, forged rims, and carbon fiber details are undeniable visual arguments. It’s a choice of the heart, a tribute to Italian motorcycle craftsmanship, which is savored with every acceleration and every glance cast upon it. A motorcycle that, like previous MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC SCS 2019 models, proves that at MV Agusta, emotion remains a guiding principle.
