Overview
Does a touring motorcycle necessarily have to renounce its soul to be practical? MV Agusta answers in the negative with this 2019 Turismo Veloce RC SCS, a machine that categorically refuses to blend into the aseptic mold of modern GTs. Here, no compromises are made, a style is imposed. The Reparto Corse kit, recognizable by its black stripes and number 37 markings, is not just marketing dressing. It clearly announces the color: beneath its saddlebags and trail fairing lies a sporty temperament.

The heart of this 2019 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC SCS is its 798 cc triple. With 110 horsepower at 10,150 rpm and 80.4 Nm of torque, it does not compete in raw figures with the 1200 cc twins that populate the segment. But so be it. This engine is a marvel of responsiveness, a mechanical orchestra that sings loud and strong, preferring liveliness to massiveness. The real revolution, however, lies in this small acronym: SCS, for Smart Clutch System. This automatic clutch system, visible on the right-hand casing, simply eliminates the left-hand lever. No more clutch matching at traffic lights or delicate maneuvers on descents. It is a technical feat that radically transforms the riding experience, especially in the city or on winding mountain passes, making this Italian more accessible than it appears.
With a 20-liter tank and a wet weight of 207 kg, the 2020 MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC SCS presents itself as a accomplished touring machine. It also borrows all the equipment from the Lusso version: color-matched saddlebags as standard, integrated Garmin GPS, heated grips and seat, and the Skyhook Sachs semi-active suspension. This is far from a spartan trail bike. The chassis, a mixture of steel trellis and aluminum plates, offers a craftsman's precision, supported by Brembo radial braking at rest. The seat height of 870 mm may be intimidating, but once in the saddle, the motorcycle proves surprisingly agile for its dimensions.

However, faced with a BMW S 1000 XR or a Ducati Multistrada 950, MV’s proposition is radically different. It does not seek to be the most versatile or the most comfortable on the highway. It demands a certain complicity from its rider, an appetite for character and raw aesthetics. Its price, around €22,200, and its limited production of 200 units make it a desirable object more than a rational travel tool. It is the GT for the aesthete, for those who consider each journey as an opportunity to ride a mechanical exception, much more than a simple means of transport.

Ultimately, this MV Agusta Turismo Veloce RC SCS is not a motorcycle for everyone. It is aimed at the connoisseur who refuses to sacrifice the thrill of a sportbike on the altar of practicality. It combines the equipment of a high-end GT with the heart and style of a Reparto Corse machine. A bold, expensive bet, but terribly seductive for those who want to travel with panache and without compromising on sensations.
