Overview
The F 800 S had barely been introduced when it was offered a Touring version: the ST. Technically, very little changes. The ST, like the S, is a model with a perimeter aluminum frame powered by BMW’s new inline twin, equipped with a belt drive and a single-sided swingarm like the Scarver. Developing more than 80 horsepower for a dry weight of less than 190 kg, the F 800 ST is differentiated by its full fairing, a taller windscreen, and an aluminum luggage rack. The raised handlebars allow for a more sport-GT riding position, perfectly in the spirit of the machine. But to make it a true road bike, it will need to be offered with luggage, which is an option. ABS will be available but also as an option. Equipped in this way and with an engine approaching 800 cm3, the ST will directly confront the only mid-size GT in this segment: the 700 Deauville. Honda vs BMW - NTV vs ST; the battle of mid-size touring will change things from the war of hypersports.
