Overview
The large-capacity touring trail bike is something of a stronghold for the Japanese and their generously sized machines. So, when Triumph unveils a Tiger Sport 800 Tour, one wonders if the English cat still has its claws to compete with the heavyweights of the segment. The answer lies in one figure: 232 kilograms fully fueled. It’s heavy, very heavy for an 800, especially when you know that the three-cylinder engine has to pull this whole world along. The 115 horsepower at 10,750 rpm and 84.3 Nm of torque are certainly lively and charming, but they will have their work cut out for them once the panniers are loaded. The price of the Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Tour motorcycle, displayed at €14,195, includes precisely all the gear of the perfect globetrotter: a 49-liter top case, two side cases, a luggage rack, heated grips, and even a TPMS. A coherent package, but one that noticeably adds to the weight of the beast.

Faced with a Yamaha Tracer 9 GT, more powerful and sophisticated, or even a Honda CB1000GT, the Tiger plays the card of serious equipment at a contained price. Well, contained is a big word. Because when compared to the standard model, the €2,300 supplement for the Tour version seems almost reasonable, the accessory pack purchased separately easily exceeding that amount. The question of the price of the Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Tour 2026 therefore arises acutely: nearly fifteen thousand euros, it’s a significant entry ticket for a dressed-up roadster. The commercial gesture is there, but the final bill weighs heavily in the balance, literally and figuratively.
Who rides this English bike? Clearly for the motorcyclist who prioritizes travel comfort and ready-to-use equipment. The comfort seat, the adjustable screen, the cruise control, and the up and down quickshifter are standard. The versatility of the luggage trio is appreciated, even if the design of the side cases lacks a little finesse. The major drawback, in my opinion, remains the instrumentation. In this price range, a full TFT screen would be the least of things, and the current LCD/TFT combo gives the impression of a makeshift job unworthy of the overall performance. It’s a shame, because the chassis, with its 41mm inverted Showa fork, is precise and reassuring, and the radial braking bites with conviction.

So, is the Tiger Sport 800 Tour worth the detour? If you are looking for a compact GT, loaded with standard equipment and featuring a three-cylinder engine with a playful character, it has arguments. Its major flaw is its weight, which hampers acceleration and requires more anticipatory riding, especially when loaded. Compared to the competition, it relies entirely on the complete package, even if it sacrifices a little agility. It's a choice. For the pragmatic globetrotter who wants to mount his machine and leave without asking questions, it is a valid option. For the motorcyclist who is primarily looking for thrills and agility, you will need to look elsewhere, or turn to the lighter Sport version. The price of the Triumph Tiger Sport 800 Tour is explained by its equipment, but it is up to you to decide if it is the right compromise.
