Overview
The Turismo Veloce have subtly changed since 2021, even if this is barely noticeable. It’s difficult to distinguish the more protective, yet taller (75 mm) and wider (38 mm) windscreen, let alone perceive the engine changes. While the manufacturer has revised gear ratios, reduced friction, increased injector pressure, changed intake trumpets, and tweaked the exhaust system.
The Reparto Corse livery has once again embraced the freshness of Italy, the smoothness of aromas, and this colorful triptych evocative of sport and passion. But for MV, the important thing is the connection with bikes competing in Moto2 and World Supersport.
For some time, the TV 800 RC has been reinforcing its dynamic appeal with a very particular clutch. Note the right engine cover, remarkably highlighted. Because it houses the recent SCS - Smart Clutch System - capable of automatically managing clutch engagement and disengagement phases - forget the left-hand lever, and let the SCS handle everything. An additional driving comfort for a motorcycle with a spirited temperament. In 2021, minor modifications softened operation.
When MV-Agusta chose to apply the stamp of its racing department, Reparto Corse, to a production motorcycle, it was originally on the F4 1000 RC, a demonic sportbike dedicated to Superbike championship homologation. That sets the level. For some time, the RC livery and designation have been applied to a less exclusive machine, allowing you to ride from home to the track via all sorts of roads and mountain passes. This is the role of this limited-edition 800 Turismo Veloce RC.
It is superb; simply. Already in standard version, the Schiranna trail-GT is a pure stylistic success. In this RC version, the livery adds the unmistakable spark of Italian sporting expression. The two-tone red and black saddlework highlights the august character of the whole. The Turismo Veloce RC features specific forged aluminum wheels, a partially carbon fiber mudguard, a crankcase protector, a small numbered plate on the handlebar, and a black finish for the footpeg plates and the muffler cover. Alas, no SC Project exhaust, as seen on the Dragster or F3 RC series.
The Turismo Veloce is one of the few trail-GTs powered by an 800 cm3 engine. The norm in the segment is more towards 900 or 1200. But be warned, this is not just any engine. The Italian 3-cylinder is a blend of fire and character. Its Euro5 compliance came with a reduction in fuel consumption and improved mid-range filling. The three-cylinder thus offers up to 12% more torque between 3,000 and 6,000 rpm. In addition to a power of 110 horsepower and approx. 8.6 mkg of torque, the Turismo Veloce features as standard 4 maps, 8-level traction control, up&down shifter (updated to version 3.0), anti-wheeling and ABS. Thanks to the appearance of an inertial platform, the latter is now active in corners.
The chassis retains its prerogatives: a structure mixing a steel trellis frame with aluminum plates, large Brembo braking with radial 4-piston calipers on 320 mm discs, and Sachs suspension that adapts damping in real time. Work on the middle of the frame allowed for a lower seat height. The seat height drops by 20 mm, while the seat is presented as more padded and more comfortable. All good.
The MV-Agusta TV 800 RC SCS borrows a maximum of equipment from the Lusso SCS version. Enough to go far and without asking questions. In addition to the standard luggage, matched to the Reparto Corse colors, the machine includes a 12V socket for connecting accessories, a center stand, heated grips, Skyhook semi-active suspension (even more precise) and a cruise control. Note that the cases can carry 34 liters of cargo each.
The dashboard is not left out. It is the latest version, implanted on almost all models. A 5.5-inch TFT screen, rich in information and connected as is the fashion. In addition to dialoging with the smartphone, the on-board electronics offer all sorts of possibilities with the MV Ride app as well as a GPS module for having a navigation system or locating where the motorcycle is. On the marketplace or even further, stolen unnoticed.
The family tree of RC models has become vast, alongside the F4 1000 RC, F3 675/800 RC, Brutale RC and Dragster RC. Consequently, the Reparto Corse family has become essential, renewed every year. MV-Agusta intends to offer each essential category of its machines in this special livery. But this kind of indulgence has a double price: firstly, there won't be enough for everyone, as only 300 will be manufactured; and secondly, the price has risen significantly.
