Overview
Ducati has long had its own definition of "Black." For a time, a placid black covered the so-called "Dark" models, for those who prioritized sensations over color; with a price tag slightly reduced. This 'Black on Black' Monster does exactly the opposite. It elevates the level of expression, as does its price tag, and presents itself as a lady of the night with a tigress’s heart.
Kickstand deployed, a ray of sunshine on the fork tubes or a flash of moonlight on the tank, a slight scent of Italy on your back and hot metal, the big Monster patiently awaits to show its verve. It presents well in this Black livery, with panels of glossy or matte black. Visually, it seeks to stand out in expansive discretion. A dose of scarlet bleeds into the rims, like canines having bitten into a subdued asphalt. Formerly shy, the dark becomes majestic with this Ducati. Those Italians are strong!
Just a paint scheme? Yes, just that. The beauty presents well, for a slightly fuller check, with the main assets being the values of a 1200 S with brass force. With its 147 horsepower twin, the Monster has plenty of grunt to sell. Not as much as the big streetfighters in the segment but enough to accelerate emotions and heart rate beyond reasonable limits. The S is synonymous with beautiful equipment (fully adjustable Öhlins suspensions, Brembo M50 brakes with 330 mm discs, carbon fiber front fender, daytime running lights, up&down shifter); the machine is symptomatic of leading-edge technology. Minimalist tubular steel trellis frame contrasting with abundant electronics. From end to end of the motorcycle, we count no less than a dashboard with a TFT color screen, an IMU inertial unit, cornering ABS, traction control, three riding modes, anti-wheelie, and three power modes. So, all that for just a paint scheme?! Insert the key, start the Testastretta, let this thoroughbred bred in the heart of Bologna bellow.... We’ll talk about it on the return.
