Overview
When Aprilia brings back the RX badge, some people immediately wonder: is it still a two-stroke? The question often pops up on forums, and it’s a testament to the longevity of a legend. The Aprilia RX 125 has long been synonymous with blue smoke and the sound of an angry wasp. But for several years now, the RX 125 has been four-stroke, and the 2025 model year confirms this direction with a four-valve single-cylinder engine producing 15 horsepower at 10,500 rpm, for 11.2 Nm of torque at 8,500 rpm. These figures position the Aprilia RX 125 4T exactly where A1 regulations allow, no more, no less.

What distinguishes this small trail bike from its direct rivals is primarily its dimensions. 134 kg fully fueled, 124 kg dry: these remain very reasonable weights for a road-homologated enduro. The high saddle at 905 mm however requires a minimum leg length, and shorter riders will need to get used to it or stick to paved roads. The wheelbase of 1,430 mm and the off-road-oriented tires, 90/90-21 at the front and 120/80-18 at the rear, confirm a deliberate off-road vocation. The 41 mm inverted fork and the progressive-link monoshock provide consistency to the whole. On track, the Aprilia RX 125 enduro plays in the same league as a Beta RR 125 or a KTM 125 EXC, with the advantage of a catalog price of 4,399 euros which remains within an accessible range for the segment.
For the A1 license, the 6-speed gearbox and chain transmission allow you to exploit the rev range without excessive frustration. The announced top speed of 120 km/h is sufficient to keep up with traffic on national roads, even if no one will go looking for a highway with this type of machine. The consumption measured at 2.6 liters per 100 km and the 7-liter tank provide correct autonomy for a day trip with a few trails interspersed. ABS is present at the front only, which is the standard on this type of machine, the rear remaining switchable for those who like controlled slides off-road.

Compared to previous versions, the Aprilia RX 125 2025 continues the evolutions started since the Aprilia RX 125 2018 and reinforced with the Aprilia RX 125 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023 models. Compliance with Euro 5, which some had been following since the Aprilia RX 125 Euro 5, has of course guided engine choices. The compression ratio of 12.6:1 and the bore dimensions of 58 x 47 mm testify to an engine designed to rev high and fast rather than to offer torque in the low rev range, which clearly orients the practice towards the active rider who is willing to work the gearbox.

The target audience is quite specific: a young rider holding an A1 license looking for a versatile machine, capable of riding during the week and swallowing a few trails on the weekend. The enthusiast looking for an Aprilia RX 125 used on sales platforms will find models from the Aprilia RX 125 2010 to the recent generations, with very variable prices depending on condition. New, the price of 4,399 euros positions the Aprilia RX 125 price in the high average of the 125 trail segment. It’s not cheap, but the finish and the reputation of the Italian brand justify the difference with the Asian entry-level models. In supermotard version, the Aprilia RX 125 supermotard declines the same chassis with spoked wheels and semi-slick tires, for those who prefer asphalt to sand. Two characters, one platform, it’s often the best way to maximize a development.
