Overview
Imagine a young A1 license holder watching trial and enduro videos in the evening, and arriving at the dealership with 4,000 euros in their pocket. The Aprilia RX 125 enduro was designed exactly for him. Not to rival a KTM EXC or a Yamaha WR, machines built for competition, but to offer an accessible playground, styled in the Italian way, with enough ground clearance so that forest paths are not a torment.

The question often arises on forums: is the Aprilia RX 125 a 2-stroke? The answer is no, and this has been the case since 2018. This shift to a 4-stroke constituted the real turning point for the machine, more so than the adjustments subsequently imposed by Euro 5. The 124 cc single-cylinder engine, with 4 valves, a bore of 58 mm and a stroke of 47 mm, has a compression ratio of 12.6:1. It develops 15 horsepower at 10,000 rpm and delivers its torque of 10.9 Nm at 8,000 rpm; modest figures on paper, but consistent with the regulatory framework of the A1 license. In terms of consumption, 2.6 liters per hundred kilometers is economical, even if the 7-liter tank requires keeping an eye on autonomy during excursions far from gas stations. The announced top speed is around 120 km/h, which is enough to reach a track start from the road without being crushed by trucks.
What distinguishes the Aprilia RX 125 4T from its sister, the SX, oriented towards supermotard, lies in a few well-chosen details. The front wheel goes to 21 inches in 90/90, the rear wheel remains in 18 inches but shod in 120/80 with studded tires; the sprocket receives 69 teeth against 62 on the SX, which directly affects acceleration out of muddy corners. The inverted telescopic fork, the steel tubular frame, and the progressive-link rear shock are shared with the rest of the Noale 125 family. At 124 kg dry weight and 905 mm of seat height, the machine is not aimed at a jockey’s build; an adolescent of average height will have to place a toe on the ground, not both feet flat.

The Aprilia RX 125 price displayed at 3,999 euros positions it in a reasonable range compared to direct competition, notably the Beta RR 125 LC or the Husqvarna TE 150i. It mainly distinguishes itself by its braking equipment: an original-equipment ABS that also incorporates a rear-wheel lift-up function, a direct inheritance from the brand's Superbike models. This is unusual in this segment and constitutes a real safety argument for a public who are starting out. A USB port available as an option under the seat, and this is a machine designed for weekend outings, not for timed six-hour enduro races.

The Aprilia RX 125 occupies a specific niche: that of the young rider who wants mud under their wheels without sacrificing the look that the motorcycle attracts to their stand. It does not have the firepower of a competition machine, but it has the mechanical seriousness of a brand that knows what it is doing in terms of chassis. For a test in real conditions, expect a healthy, predictable motorcycle that forgives the mistakes of beginners while still maintaining a sufficiently sharp character not to become tiresome after six months of practice. The Aprilia RX 125 technical specifications do not lie about the product: it is a gateway to off-road, not a ticket to the podium.
