Overview
When Aprilia releases a 125 enduro, we expect mud, rutted trails, and a high-revving engine. The reality of the Aprilia RX 125 2024 is more nuanced, and that’s precisely what makes it interesting. This little trail bike has never claimed to compete with a KTM EXC or a Yamaha WR on their turf. It plays a different score, between aggressive looks and everyday use, where style counts as much as performance.

To understand what the RX 125 has become today, you have to go back to 2018. That’s the year the machine definitively switched to four-stroke, abandoning the two-stroke that had made its reputation. A frequent question arises in searches: is the Aprilia RX 125 a two-stroke? The answer is no, it hasn’t been for years. The 124.2 cc single-cylinder 4t that powers it today descends directly from that which equips the RS and Tuono 125. The combustion chamber, the ECU housing, the iridium spark plug, the intake and exhaust have all been redesigned to meet Euro 5 standards while preserving usable torque from 8,000 rpm. The result: 15 horsepower at 10,000 rpm, a maximum power reduced in engine speed compared to previous versions, and a more progressive torque curve that facilitates riding in light off-road conditions.
What distinguishes the RX 125 from its cousin the SX is first and foremost a matter of tires and geometry. The front wheel goes to 21 inches against 17 on the supermotard, the knobs replace the road slicks, the sprocket counts 69 teeth to lengthen the gears off-road. The 41 mm upside-down telescopic fork offers 240 mm of travel, the rear mono-shock 210 mm. For an Aprilia RX 125 enduro, these figures are honest, even if we remain far from the travel of a true off-road competitor. The steel double cradle frame, the 124 kg dry weight, the 905 mm seat height: all of this draws a profile of a machine accessible to young A1 license holders who want to feel the sand under their wheels without getting into technical difficulty at every turn.

The Aprilia RX 125 technical specifications also reveal some unexpected arguments for this segment. The braking integrates a sporty design ABS, from the larger displacement models of the house, with a rear wheel lift-off function during braking. On a 125, it’s rare. The discs measure 260 mm at the front and 220 mm at the rear, with multi-piston calipers. The announced top speed hovers around 120 km/h according to the official Aprilia RX 125 top speed, which remains consistent with the legal limit of the A1 license. In terms of autonomy, the 7-liter tank requires regular stops, especially on the road. An optional USB port can be added under the seat for GPS enthusiasts.

Displayed at 4,099 euros, the Aprilia RX 125 price is in the high end of the segment. It’s more than a Beta RR 125 or a Fantic XEF 125, which are less well-equipped but more raw. Aprilia justifies this positioning by the finish, the electronic equipment and a brand DNA that speaks to young riders sensitive to Italian aesthetics. It’s not a machine for descending timed enduros. It’s a motorcycle for those who want to explore forest trails on the weekend, enter the world of off-road without breaking the bank, and ride something that looks good in the high school courtyard or in front of a cafe. The Aprilia RX 125 4t 2024 version fully embraces this role, without pretending to be what it is not.
