Overview
Can an "entry-level" version still give you goosebumps? That's the question posed by the 2025 Triumph Street Triple R, this English roadster that categorically refuses to be utilitarian. With its 120 horsepower delivered at 11,500 rpm by a legendary 765cc triple-cylinder engine, it’s no pushover. Triumph reworked this engine, increasing the compression ratio to 13.25:1 and revisiting the combustion chambers. The result? A torque of 80.4 Nm that arrives earlier, at 9500 rpm, for crisp acceleration and a responsiveness that aligns with the brand's reputation. It’s not just about brute power; it’s a matter of character. Faced with a Yamaha MT-09 or a Kawasaki Z900, the triple makes the difference with its raspy voice and perpetual surge, a direct heritage of the Triumph Street Triple R 675 and 765 from previous years.

The chassis, however, remains a model of consistency. The perimeter aluminum frame and the 41mm Showa inverted fork ensure behavior of surgical precision for a declared weight of 189 kg fully fueled. The Street Triple R 2025 is not a motorcycle that floats or hesitates; it slices through curves with agility that seems innate. The braking, ensured by 310mm Brembo discs at the front, is up to its performance, even if it lacks the absolute bite of the RS version's calipers. That's where Triumph's game lies: to offer, for around €10,795, an ultra-healthy mechanical base that sacrifices little to real-world use. The seat height of 826 mm remains accessible, making this machine an ally for demanding touring riders as well as Sunday track day enthusiasts seeking pure sensations.
Where things sometimes falter is with the instrumentation. One is surprised to find a combined display that seems borrowed from other models in the range, a notable weakness compared to Japanese or Austrian competitors who offer full-page TFT screens. It's all the more frustrating that the onboard electronics are, however, very complete. ABS and traction control, now coupled to an inertial measurement unit, are adjustable and sensitive to lean angle. Four riding modes, including a customizable Rider mode, and a standard up/down quickshifter complete the picture. It’s an intelligent motorcycle that knows how to be discreet, allowing the rider to enjoy the essential: the direct link between the wrist and the asphalt.
So, what is it really? The 2025 Triumph Street Triple R is not the ultimate track machine, that role being reserved for its big sister RS. It is rather the perfectly balanced sporty roadster, the one that excels on mountain roads as well as in daily commutes. It will appeal to the rider who seeks the authenticity of a lively engine, the unique character of a triple-cylinder, and a stylistic aggressiveness that has not aged since the Triumph Street Triple R 2009 or 2012. In the jungle of mid-size roadsters, it remains a reference, a mechanical certainty that justifies its price with a rare riding experience. The technical specifications of the Triumph Street Triple R 2013, 2016 or 2019 show it: the DNA is preserved, simply refined. And that may be its greatest strength.
