Overview

We dive into the knobby details. The CRF 150 R/B is the smallest of Honda’s customer competition machines in the motocross range. It is a genuine competition machine and the perfect transition to the larger displacement models such as the CRF 250 R and CRF 450 R. It features a Unicam four-stroke engine – a unique characteristic in current production – which delivers high but progressive power and torque values across the entire RPM range.

Showa-signed suspension includes an inverted 37mm fork, a adjustable mono-shock and a Pro-Link variable ratio system.

Chassis

The CRF 150 RB features a lightweight and strong frame made from large-diameter steel tubes to ensure stable straight-line handling and agile cornering.

For optimal control of compression and rebound functions, the CRF 150 RB utilizes a Showa cartridge inverted fork with an offset axle of 37mm. This component benefits from friction-reducing technologies and works with a Pro-Link variable ratio rear suspension. The front and rear components receive specific settings for the CRF 150 RB to offer the best possible absorption characteristics regardless of track conditions.

The wheels are robust and generously sized, with a 15mm axle at the front and 17mm at the rear for an ideal balance between strength and unsprung weight.

Braking is entrusted to discs, 220mm at the front and 190mm at the rear, gripped by high-performance pads for powerful and precise braking. At the rear, an HRC-type master cylinder eliminates the presence of a separate reservoir and hose.

Like every member of the Honda off-road range, the CRF 150 RB proudly claims its heritage. The 4.2-liter fuel tank and plastic bodywork offer a dynamic look, directly inspired by the CRF 250 R and CRF 450 R. The seat height is 866mm.

Engine

The CRF 150 R is powered by a 149.7cm3, liquid-cooled, four-valve, Unicam four-stroke single cylinder engine, both compact and very performant. This block weighs only 19.7kg and delivers power and torque exploitable across the entire RPM range.

The bore and stroke values are set at 66 x 43.7mm with a compression ratio of 11.7 to 1. The 32mm Keihin FCR carburetor has a throttle positioner that guarantees constant fuel delivery and optimal throttle response.

An automatic decompression system and a hot start system on the handlebar ensure worry-free starts, whether the engine is hot or cold.

The dual-rotor lubrication system limits the volume of oil in circulation; one of the two pumps lubricates the crankshaft, piston and distribution while the second, larger pump manages the transmission and clutch. This design allows for a regular supply of fresh oil to the clutch and eliminates the risk of engine oil contamination by clutch particles.

The large airbox is connected to a 26mm inlet duct and houses a reusable double foam filter. On the exhaust, the 22.5mm duct opens onto a steel collector, finished with a reconditionable aluminum silencer.

The CRF 150 R gearbox has 5 short gears whose ratios perfectly match the characteristics of the engine, conditioning exploitable performance on any gear.
