Overview
For 2026, thanks to the continued commitment of Yamaha engineers, the YZ 125 has been further refined to assert its position in the 2-stroke category.
The latest YZ 125 benefits from a redesign of its intake system, while carburetion and ignition have been optimized to deliver more consistent and more linear power, excellent throttle response and smoother corner exits.
The carburetion has been optimized to improve operation across the entire RPM range: A new needle ensures optimal fuel delivery at all throttle openings to provide consistent power; all the jets have been updated to achieve an ideal flow and therefore better throttle response, from idle to high RPM; furthermore, the air screw and mixture level have been adjusted for greater fluidity on corner exits. In addition, the ignition timing has been updated to optimize combustion at all throttle openings. This allows the engine to react more linearly across the entire operating range.
The air filter duct has been widened and reshaped, and the assembly has been updated for a smoother connection to the carburetor. These changes optimize the airflow into the carburetor and provide consistent performance levels.
All these improvements affirm the versatility of the YZ 125, a model ideal for a wide range of riders, beginners or experts. They also allow the rider to more easily adjust engine settings. The new YZ 125 is thus both easier to use and faster on corner exits.
Yamaha is also announcing a 70th anniversary version, which adds its new white and red livery to the long list of the machine’s iconic attributes.
