Overview
Who said a Harley-Davidson couldn’t have the soul of a dragster? In 2011, the VRSCF V-Rod Muscle answers that question with a rumble of 1250 cm3, laying down 123 horsepower and a 240 mm wide rear tire as a declaration of war against overly tame customs. Here, you're far from leisurely rides; you're in the arena, with a machine that fully embraces its nickname. Its engine, developed with Porsche, is not just an aesthetic accessory: it delivers 117 Nm of torque that pins you to the seat, propelling its 307 kg fully fueled towards 200 km/h with a determination that will surprise more than one purist of the orange and black brand.

Yet, this brute has taken seduction lessons. The careful finish and ingenious details, such as the turn signals integrated into the mirrors or the electrical wiring concealed in the handlebar, show that you can be a bad girl with class. The frame, deliberately streamlined, showcases master parts: the 43 mm inverted fork, the dual exhaust cannons, and the imposing V2 engine, a true mechanical museum piece. The 18.9-liter tank and the low seat at 678 mm promise a cruiser-style riding position, but it's a trap. The forward-mounted footpegs transform every acceleration into a test for your arms and back, reminding you that this Harley Davidson VRSCF V Rod Muscle is first and foremost a performance beast, not a rolling sofa.
Facing competitors like the Yamaha V-Max of the time, the Muscle plays a different card. It opposes an ultra-modern and angular style to Japanese exuberance, with a stiffer chassis and surprising handling for a custom, notably thanks to the Michelin Scorcher tires. Series ABS and a slipper clutch are welcome concessions to safety, but do nothing to soften its character. It is a motorcycle that demands a rider, that must be earned. It is not suitable for beginners, frightened by its weight and lively power, nor for touring riders seeking comfort. Its audience? The urban track rider who wants a radical custom, the aesthete who admires its exposed mechanical architecture, and those seeking the only cruiser capable of holding its own against a sporty roadster on a good stretch of winding road.
At nearly 19,000 euros, the price is significant. You pay for an icon, for a piece of bold Harley-Davidson history, and for raw sensations that few machines in this segment offer. It is not perfect: it is greedy, physically demanding, and its 1.70 meter wheelbase makes it little agile in tight turns. But it is precisely this character, this refusal of compromise, that makes its charm. The V-Rod Muscle is not a compromise motorcycle. It is the embodiment of a crazy idea: grafting the heart of a sportbike into the body of a custom. And that, you have to experience it to understand it.
