Overview
The Scout family has become the most prolific in the range, more so than Harley. It’s available in every configuration imaginable, except for the Tourer segment, leaving the road and its flagships (Roadmaster, Pursuit, Challenger, Chieftain) to plant their enormous masses and gargantuan engines on the long tarmac.
However, some models don't shy away from taking on evening or weekend affairs. The Scout often watches the Sport Chief RT go off on adventures with a bit of equipment. It has therefore decided to do exactly the same.
How? By taking a Sport Scout and stealing the small saddlebags from the Chief. Two flower boxes painted in body color to accommodate a pair of pants, three sandwiches, and a pair of boots. With a total of 37 liters for the pocket duo, you can’t carry much gear. For comparison, a Honda NT 1100 offers the same capacity... in just one of its saddlebags. But the purpose of the RT is absolutely not to offer touring-style space. No, it's mainly to stow a few items and retain a grunge and dynamic style.
Just saddlebags? Yes, that’s enough. With the equipment of the Sport Scout, it already has a small fork head, provocative-style handlebar risers, the lean silhouette of a bobber, and a tough attitude that suits it perfectly. It also presents itself as a sportier alternative to the Super Scout, smoother and vintage, and less expensive than the Chief - for those more interested in the Club Style than in a large engine.
It’s not small, however, its twin. With 1250 cm3, it’s already a nice pair of cylinders. But in the custom world, it’s mid-size. A Big Block starts around 1.8 liters today. Appearing last year with great pride and a power output of 105 to 111 horsepower depending on the models, the SpeedPlus range roars in 2026 except on the Scout 101. The Sport Scout RT is entitled to 94 horsepower, like almost all its sisters (this is not the case in the States). This makes it compatible with A2 licenses. Torque has been preserved, delivering 11 mkg.
Some Scouts are offered either scandalously stripped down or enriched with a higher level of finish. The Sport Scout RT only features the "Limited" badge on its flanks, indicating an addition of equipment and the increased price that goes with it. This mainly concerns electronics: a 4-inch color TFT circular screen, the Ride Command interface to have a host of functions including a GPS navigator, traction control, cruise control, 3 Riding Modes, a USB socket, Bluetooth and keyless start. However, you’ll need one to unlock the saddlebags.
This RT version weighs 9 kg more than the Sport Scout. It also has more elaborate graphics, painted fenders and fork head, spoked wheels with machined edges, and high-mounted mirrors. Ultimately, it’s not just a matter of saddlebags; there’s also a sense of added vanity.
