Overview
This dark hot-rod continues its tour in 2016, leaving time to savor this sculpture of power and steel. The change occurred in 2012, when the Night Rod Special underwent a slight makeover. Its front end became sportier: the 49 mm forks were replaced with inverted forks with black sleeves. The wheels are lighter, the ergonomics improved, and the rear end was redesigned. Little sister to the Night Rod, the VRSCDX Night Rod Special is a concentrate of style and performance. With a blacked-out Revolution 1246 cc engine that spits out 125 horsepower, and 11.3 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, the VRSCDX Night Rod Special is the boss of the Power Cruiser. The blackened parts give it a dark appearance, and the 240 mm tires (18’’ at the rear and 19’’ at the front) are ready to devour the asphalt.
True custom at heart, the Night Rod Special features a restyled low seat, just 675 mm from the ground, a low and wide handlebar like on a dragster, advanced foot controls that are a little too far away for riding in a ‘Low Rider’ configuration, and above all an inverted fork inclined at 34° that makes it want to eat the asphalt.
The frame is hydroformed black steel, the forks, the three Brembo 4-piston brake discs (no, you’re not dreaming), the swingarm and the black spoked wheels clearly show the dark side of the Night Rod Special. The blacked-out Revolution engine with raised fins and lacquered cases, the headlight fairing, the raised and brushed dual exhaust with blackened caps and protectors, as well as the mirrors, rear shocks and controls reveal even more. A 19-liter tank is located under the seat, which leaves a good margin for long rides.
Sitting on this monster, you will notice an imposing posture and be ready to swallow everything in a single lap. So, become the pirate of the roads if you manage to sign a check for more than €18,000.
