Overview
When a Korean brand decides to directly challenge the kings of the sporty 125 segment, one expects either a marketing bluff or a genuine technical proposition. With the Roadsport R, Daelim clearly plays in the second category, even if the final assessment tempers enthusiasm.

First visual contact: the full fairing is well-executed, the aggressive headstock vaguely evokes the CBR 600 RR in terms of proportions, with a central air intake and almond-shaped lights that also glance at the former Derbi GPR Racing. It's difficult to guess that we're starting from a roadster base; the restyling work is convincing. You can feel the stylistic effort, and the result genuinely pleases A1 license holders looking for a machine to look at as much as to ride.
The chassis borrows the foundations of the Roadwin roadster: perimeter steel frame, 35 mm telescopic fork with 130 mm of travel, single rear shock absorber. A nice setup until you step on the scale. 162 kg dry weight is a serious load for a 125, well above the Honda CBR 125 R which flirts with 130 kg. This weight penalizes braking in particular, entrusted to a simple front disc whose bite struggles to reassure when approaching the 120 km/h indicated on the digital speedometer. For a machine that claims to be sporty, this black spot deserves to be clearly highlighted. On the other hand, the presence of a center stand breaks with the habits of the segment: rare on a sportbike, it simplifies daily maintenance and enhances the motorcycle's practical aspect.
The dashboard, on the other hand, makes a good impression: digital speed display, well-readable analog tachometer, engine temperature and fuel level indicators by segments, clock and daily totalizer. A complete equipment that is not always found at this price.
Under the fairing, the engine block completely breaks with the roadster. This 124 cc single-cylinder engine with liquid cooling, electronic injection, double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder with a balance shaft is serious mechanicals. The compression ratio of 12:1 and the short bore (56.5 x 49.5 mm) announce the color: this engine likes to rev high, very high. The 15 horsepower point at 10,500 rpm, the maximum torque of 11.8 Nm arrives at 8,400 rpm. Below, you have to be patient. But at high speeds, with the well-spaced 5-speed gearbox, the bike comes to life and the sensations justify the sporty positioning. The aerodynamic protection of the fairing proves effective on open roads, a concrete advantage over naked roadsters.

Remains the question of price. At 2,995 euros, the Roadsport R is priced above the Honda CBR 125 R, a historical benchmark in the segment. Compared to the Yamaha YZF-R 125, it remains more accessible, even if the Japanese imposes its noble letters with a superior finish and a much stronger brand image. Daelim offers here a better-equipped machine than the CBR, more generous in size, but it still has to earn the trust of wary buyers regarding the Korean manufacturer. This is the real gamble of this Roadsport: to convince an audience of young A1 license holders that reputation is built kilometer after kilometer, not just on the technical specifications.
