Overview
The story of the Tuono 125 began in 2003. Goodness, that's a long time. At the time, its power-to-weight ratio was better than the new 457. Was it with this spirit that the engineers decided to graft traction control onto it for the 2025 model? We doubt its usefulness... In any case, the slimmest of the Tuono is determined to remain in the catalog. That's why it is upgrading its engine to Euro5+.
The Tuono has finally established a real family, growing in displacement and power at the same time as experience. The big 1100 V4 holds the top spot with its formidable firepower and imperial chassis; the 660 stirs up the mid-size roadster sector; the 457 dances for the A2; the 125 opens the doors of this clan to the A1, the young, the growlers. The smallest of the Tuono shows its grunt and its mechanics.
It is necessary to invest in the image, to surf the wave launched by the RS 660. It was she who unveiled the current face of Noale. As such, the Tuono 125 is largely inspired by the RS and Tuono 660 to redesign its face. But keeping some traits of the old look, at the level of the separation of the lights. These, integrating the turn signals, are LED. The look is even more mischievous. As for the rest of the machine, everything is taken from the previous model.
What does the engine say? It promises everything it is allowed. No more than 15 horsepower can be extracted due to the law. Enough to have a little or a lot of fun when you prioritize driving over performance. For the most daring and those with a heavy foot, a quickshifter is always part of the package (optional).
In terms of the chassis, the Tuono 125 can boast of having the kit from its RS 125 sister. With a perimeter frame in aluminum spars, an inverted 40 mm fork, a 300 mm disc at the front + a 4-piston radial caliper, an asymmetrical aluminum swingarm, the small roadster presents guarantees of savoir-vivre and savoir-rouler. Efficiency also counts with a wide 140 rear tire, Michelin tires and a Bosch dual-channel ABS.
Is more needed to please the community? The Tuono has not played all its cards. It offers a USB port as an option and a storage space under the seat, sufficient to accommodate an 8-inch tablet. We note that the dashboard does not follow the trend. It is a fully digital LCD panel (no TFT yet) where all the information is displayed, a choice of white or blue lighting, and the possibility of grafting the Aprilia MIA platform (optional) – it allows you to connect a smartphone to the machine, to pilot it and obtain more information from the machine.
A skillfully distributed power, a Tuono V4 face mixed with the 660, a manifest presence to vent its anger – the Tuono in 1/8th of a liter is indeed part of the family. It shows itself as one of the most sporty in its category. But no excess of optimism. If it can forget the Chinese competition for a while longer, its Japanese or Austrian rivals are opponents of the same level.
