Overview
When a Korean brand decides to compete in the 125cc sportbike arena, it had better come prepared with strong arguments. Daelim didn’t hold back with this Roadsport R: a refined full fairing, a sharp front optic, and a central air intake reminiscent of high-displacement supersport replicas. It brings to mind a CBR 600 RR from the front, or the old Derbi GPRs of the racing years. The styling works, and the connection with the Roadwin roadster, from which it shares the chassis, isn’t immediately obvious.

Under the sportbike exterior, the steel perimeter frame does the job. The 35mm telescopic fork debates over 130mm, the single rear shock absorber over 100mm. The suspension is more serious than on the roadster version, which is important in this segment where road handling takes precedence over the technical specifications. On the other hand, the front single-disc braking system gives the impression of having been sized for a lighter machine, while the Roadsport R weighs 162 kg dry. This isn't a weight that lies, and it's felt during heavy deceleration. For a sportbike that claims this positioning, this is the biggest weakness we regret, especially when the engine encourages you to play with the revs.
Because the engine is a pleasant surprise. Nothing to do with the roadster’s single-cylinder: here, Daelim has developed a modern four-stroke, water-cooled, with double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and a balance shaft. The short bore of 56.5mm for a stroke of 49.5mm, all compressed at 12:1. The 15 horsepower arrive at 10,500 rpm and the torque of 11.8 Nm peaks at 8,400 rpm. The profile is clearly that of an engine designed for high revs: below 7,000 rpm, the Roadsport R moves forward but doesn't convince. Past this threshold, the mechanics awaken and the well-spaced five-speed gearbox helps to maintain the power band. The result on the road: a 125 km/h reached without drama, which remains honest for 162 kg on the scale.
The dashboard deserves a special mention. In a segment where many were still content with basic analog gauges, Daelim offers a digital display for speed, a legible tachometer, engine temperature, a segmented fuel gauge and a clock with trip computer. The center stand, now a rare commodity on sportbikes, also appears on the list. These are details that appeal to everyday users and reinforce the versatility of the machine. The bubble offers acceptable protection for the rider who chains kilometers, even if no one will ask it to replace a real GT fairing.

At €3,499, the Roadsport R positions itself above the Honda CBR 125, its natural rival. The Japanese benefits from a solid network, a reputation built on years of presence and contained weight. Facing it, Daelim plays the card of a generous build and a more complete standard equipment. The Yamaha YZF-R 125, another reference in the segment, displays an even higher price. Between the two, the Korean occupies an honest challenger position, provided that you accept that the after-sales network remains less developed. The target audience, young drivers with an A1 license or a return to motorcycling after a long break, will find here an engaging machine and sufficiently accomplished to progress without frustration. Apart from the braking, Daelim has delivered a consistent copy.
