Overview
Imagine a Sunday morning, the coffee still warm in your cup, and the desire to hop on something that won’t stress you out. No intimidating displacement, no racer’s position, just a small custom bike with a tranquil look that accepts saddlebags and a windscreen without complaint. That’s exactly the niche targeted by the Keeway Superlight 125 Standard Edition 2025, and it must be acknowledged that the Chinese manufacturer, long established in Europe under the Benelli banner, knows better and better where it’s putting its feet.

Under the 12.5-liter tank beats a 124 cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine, with a bore of 56.5 mm and a stroke of 49.5 mm, with a compression ratio of 9:1 and only two valves per cylinder. Nothing revolutionary, but that’s not the point. Power peaks at 10.61 horsepower at 9,000 rpm, torque at 8.80 Nm at 7,500 rpm. On paper, this is the bare minimum for a 125, and the announced top speed of 90 km/h confirms that this motorcycle has no highway ambitions. The 5-speed gearbox and chain transmission complete a mechanical assembly that prioritizes reliability without seeking to shine.
What distinguishes the Standard version of the Superlight from the base model is precisely this equipment oriented towards light touring: integrated saddlebags and a standard-fit windscreen. For 2,940 euros, the package makes sense. The telescopic fork with 110 mm of travel at the front and the dual rear shock absorber with 5 adjustable preload positions (73.2 mm of travel) define a worthy rolling chassis for swallowing secondary roads without rattling your teeth. Disc brakes on both wheels are reassuring, even if they remain within the standard of the category.
The weight of 190 kg fully fueled is, on the other hand, a point to watch. For a 125 aimed at young riders and novices who constitute the core target audience of this machine, it’s hefty. The Honda CB125F barely exceeds 130 kg, the Yamaha YZF-R125 hovers around 140 kg. Keeway fully embraces the custom aesthetic here at the expense of lightness, which can make maneuvering at a standstill a bit sporty for those of modest stature. Saddle height is not communicated, which is a shame precisely for this audience.
The Superlight 125 Standard Edition clearly addresses those who want to enjoy themselves on weekends without breaking the bank, enjoy a neo-retro look with a minimum of integrated practicality, and whose journeys rarely exceed fast roads. It’s not a technically exciting motorcycle, and Keeway doesn’t claim otherwise. It’s a functional object, correctly finished for its price, which fulfills its contract in a segment where low-cost competition is dense. The bet on accessible custom style is kept, provided you accept its limitations with lucidity.
