Overview

The striking power of the R series has its flagship in the 300/400 category. It is called the R3, wants to resemble the M1 (but is more like a large R125) and serves as an entry-level bridge between the 125 and the R7.

Speaking of the R7, let’s talk about the very first one. The 750 cm3 inline-four born in the late 90s and a formidable competitor in the World Superbike Championship. Why her? Because its iconic livery has stood the test of time to dress Yamaha’s 70th anniversary and the motorcycles that go with it. Including this R3 70th Anniversary.

The small sticker on the tank recalls this celebration, and the red and white livery, as well as the speedblocks, show it to everyone, everywhere. Some chromosomes from the YZF-R7 OW-02 jumped almost 30 years to create the epidermis of the R3.

Giving it more charm and a spark of curiosity. In addition to its lines, the R3 wants to initiate into the sport with its pronounced but not excessive riding position, its inverted fork, and its 42 horsepower engine. A surprising and empowering power for a 321 cm3, which must compete with 400 and 450 models that are much better equipped with torque.

Let’s specify that the Yam’s small twin-cylinder engine is equipped with an anti-slippage clutch, that the motorcycle is equipped with Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity, that it can remain correct in weight with 169 kg fully fueled, and that it must convince A2 license holders that the doors to the sport can open with it.

The 70th anniversary R models number five: This R3 as well as the R125, the 700 R7, the 900 R9, and, outside of Europe, the R1.
