Overview
On January 1, 2017, the Yamalube Yamaha Official Rally Team took the start of the 2017 Dakar. Riding the WR450F Rally 2017, Helder Rodriguez, Adrien Van Beveren, Alessandro Botturi and Rodney Fagotter started from Asuncíon in Paraguay, a first in the rally’s history. They will continue their journey in Bolivia to conclude their route on January 14 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The world’s most demanding rally-raid race requires a perfectly prepared motorcycle and the WR is ready to meet this challenge. The WR450F enduro has undergone a number of modifications: this competitive production motorcycle has been transformed into a true rally-raid machine capable of facing the legendary Dakar. In order to cover these 9000 kilometers in extreme conditions, the WR450F Rally is equipped with a 33-liter tank and a larger cooling system to cope with the hottest temperatures.
The instantly recognizable navigation tower at the front of the motorcycle is distinguished by the installation of four lights, a GPS, a roadbook scroll and all the other elements necessary for rider navigation. Its perfected chassis and engine ensure a powerful, lightweight and agile machine, offering riders perfect control of their motorcycle. Regarding suspension, the WR450F Rally uses a BOS telescopic fork and a modified swingarm.
For all those who dream of riding this machine at the Dakar, the Yamalube Yamaha Official Rally Team is currently developing a specific "customer" kit to transform a WR450F into a true race machine. These kits should be available from July 2017.
