Overview
After the TF 450-RC, it was expected that Triumph would enter the enduro arena. This will be realized with the TF 450-E, whose desire for performance will coexist with the premium quality ethos that the brand infuses into all its models.
Racily and aggressively styled, this motorcycle was designed and developed with world enduro champions to excel in competitive races and trails, across technical terrain and high-speed sections. The precision 450 cm³ engine delivers leading-edge performance, combined with an optimal blend of unparalleled low-speed agility and inspiring high-speed stability.
Developed entirely by Triumph in close collaboration with five-time world champion Ivon Cervantes and four-time world enduro champion Paul Edmondson, the TF 450-E is built on a unique lightweight aluminum chassis, designed for agility and strength. The new backbone frame design offers leading-edge handling and stability on all terrains.
This enduro model is equipped with premium brand components and features the latest off-road technology, as well as a rider-focused ergonomic package and a race-inspired style. The sleek bodywork, Triumph Performance yellow graphics, and integrated LED lighting give the machine a bold and aggressive look that stands out on the starting line.
Building on Triumph’s reputation for quality and reliability, the TF 450-E will also benefit from worldwide support, backed by a global network of specialist dealers and a 24/7 parts ordering and supply system.
The 450 cm³ single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine of the TF 450-E delivers impressive power and torque with a linear power curve, ensuring smooth acceleration in varying conditions, from technical climbs to high-speed straights. The TF 450-E is designed to excel in high-speed enduro races, ideal for experienced riders seeking power, speed, and versatility on open trails and hills. With its greater low- and mid-range torque, it tackles steep inclines, sand dunes, and situations requiring less gear shifting with ease. Its smooth and tractable power delivery and connected, controllable engine character ensure that riders can feel the rear wheel traction of the bike and the seamless transfer of energy to the ground.
The single was developed to have more inertia than a motocross engine, providing more stable and manageable power in diverse and unpredictable race conditions. This is complemented by the Exedy six-speed racing clutch, which allows for smooth upshifts without clutch slipping, maintaining momentum in tight technical sections.
Advanced fuel injection and ignition systems manage power effectively, ensuring instant throttle response and reliable performance throughout demanding rides. A custom 44 mm Dell’orto throttle body provides an air bypass system for cold starts and a manually adjustable idle speed.
Del West titanium valves and a Koenig forged aluminum piston ensure consistent performance during prolonged high-RPM operation, significantly reducing maintenance needs.
For the TF 450-E, the shear pins and rocker arms are further enhanced with Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coatings, improving durability and reducing friction. The high-capacity radiator and auxiliary fan, combined with a Twin-air supplied tool-free double-layer filter, provide consistent engine cooling, ensuring reliable power delivery on long and demanding rides.
Triumph and Athena combined their extensive off-road expertise to create a perfect synergy, resulting in the development of new software strategies that strongly emphasize handling and traction. The management system features fully custom software. This new system benefits from co-developed mapping and traction control strategies, specifically tailored by Triumph and Athena to enhance performance and reliability.
The two engine maps adapt performance for different conditions at the touch of a button, giving the rider the choice to adapt and excel in different race conditions. Riders can switch between maps on the fly. One for aggressive performance, the other for a smoother and more controllable behavior on technical terrain. Additional maps can also be added with the optional Wi-Fi module and Triumph MX Tune Pro app.
The cross TF 450-RC model and its enduro sister, the TF 450-E
The TF 450-E features a lateral resonator in the silencer, specially designed for targeted noise attenuation, resulting in a deep and powerful exhaust note.
This model presents a unique and lightweight Triumph aluminum frame, with optimized mass, rigidity, and a low center of gravity. This provides exceptional agility, improving high-speed stability and providing clear directional control and confidence. Post-fabrication machining improves dimensional accuracy while the frame also features internal hand-welded craftsmanship.
The KYB 48 mm inverted fork is fully adjustable, and the three-way adjustable linkage rear suspension is specifically tuned for the challenges of enduro riding, ensuring reactive control, excellent power transfer, and maximum traction in demanding conditions. With a 10 mm reduction compared to Triumph motocross models and improved settings, they offer an excellent balance between control and bump absorption, while minimizing drifts during cornering.
Easy to set up and maintain, this state-of-the-art suspension offers high-level adjustment for rider weight and riding style, as well as exceptional ability for different terrains, from muddy tracks to rocky paths.
The enduro-specific swingarm geometry ensures precise feedback, giving enduro riders the means to make quick adjustments to navigate obstacles, and providing intuitive and inspiring handling for competition and adventure.
The TF 450-E is equipped with a formidable selection of premium brand specifications and cutting-edge technologies, optimizing performance in all conditions.
These can be accessed using intuitive handlebar-mounted controls with illuminated buttons for quick and easy adjustments, while the digital display provides real-time data, including engine temperature and gear engaged.
The advanced traction control system monitors rear wheel slip and modulates power output to provide constant grip on unpredictable surfaces, while optimized launch control manages torque delivery to maximize traction off the line, helping riders achieve consistent and competitive starts. The Triumph-designed quickshifter allows for clutchless upshifts between the second and sixth gear for an uninterrupted power distribution and preserve momentum during critical race sections.
Other premium components, included as standard, comprise the Galfer performance braking system with a 260 mm front brake disc and a 220 mm rear brake disc, combined with a 24 mm Brembo two-piston floating front caliper, a single 26 mm floating rear piston caliper, and an adjustable reach brake lever.
The machine is fitted with Michelin Enduro 2 tires, with an innovative tread pattern providing enhanced grip and traction, designed for various terrains. The D.I.D DirtStar 7000 series aluminum rims, with a black anodized finish and lightweight aluminum hubs designed by Triumph, complement the appearance.
Designed to meet the requirements of competition racing and extended racing, the ergonomics of the TF 450-E have been designed to maximize both performance and rider comfort.
The clean ACF Carbon Core handlebar with adjustable mounts allows riders to personalize the fit and feel, perfecting the positioning between the handlebar, seat, and feet. This can minimize fatigue, improve control during tight turns, and reduce rider deformation during prolonged standing.
A 955 mm seat height allows for optimal play for technical sections, while an optimized seat provides excellent grip and a rubbery consistency to improve positioning in both dry and wet conditions. The ergonomic design and high-quality foam padding provide greater comfort, allowing enduro riders to ride longer without discomfort. The seat cover material is very durable and wear-resistant, making it ideal for off-road conditions.
The 8.3-liter fuel tank provides a long range for extended adventures, and the compact integrated LED lights enhance visibility in low-light conditions.
