Overview

The idea of venturing into a Rally-raid competition brings to mind Katoche, and perhaps acquiring one of its customer-ready machines. The Austrian brand is fully capitalizing on its multiple victories and its stifling (for others) commitment, but it is far from being the only player in this niche market.

Honda has reinvested in the discipline some time ago. With success! Its official machines know how to lightning the terrain, and experienced fans can now acquire a customer version thanks to distributor Euroboost (France) and preparer RedMoto (Italy). Here is the 2025 version, prepared with the utmost care:

Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and RedMoto announce their collaboration for the production of rally motorcycles, dedicated to participation in international competitions, including the Dakar Rally.

HRC will also consider partnership opportunities with rally teams to offer support to riders who wish to participate in these competitions with the new CRF450RX Rally.

For its first year of production and marketing, production of this homologated model will be limited to 50 units and will be available for pre-order only.

To be as close as possible to the official CRF RALLY version and to have a machine that meets the specifications of the race, the chassis of the CRF 450RX was used as a technical base. This guarantees maximum dynamic stability on extremely rough and rocky terrain. The motorcycle is equipped with a twin fuel tank (front/rear) with a total capacity of 36 liters. The 14-liter rear tank is mounted on anti-vibration mounts, reducing inertia in corners and allowing the rider to maintain a lighter, more agile, and more controlled riding style.

This component is the furthest from the motorcycle's center of gravity and has a significant impact on its agility. By making the tour light but strong, thanks to the use of carbon fiber, the motorcycle remains maneuverable while being able to withstand the impacts of potential falls. The roadbook inclination can be adjusted manually to allow riders to find the most suitable setting. Furthermore, the tour subframe is independent of the main frame, allowing for easy removal for repairs and maintenance during races.

The rear tank combines high-strength nylon and polyethylene to save space while optimizing volume. Its design contributes to the rear frame structure, increasing rigidity for more precise handling. In the rider's movement area, the front and rear tanks have been refined to match the dimensions of the official CRF Rally models, offering a natural and unobstructed riding position for maximum control.

Just like the official CRF Rally kit, this kit includes a high-strength carbon fiber skid plate designed to protect the lower, most exposed part of the 22-liter front fuel tank from debris and impacts. It also protects key components such as the frame, engine case, and exhaust manifold. The front profile features a "sled" design that helps dissipate the energy of impact from obstacles without compromising handling. Furthermore, an integrated tool compartment is very practical for riders to carry essential tools for emergency repairs during race stages.

The fork features specific damping settings and springs with different elastic constants. The fork is equipped with oversized titanium tubes with Kashima surface treatment, while the shock absorber features a titanium-coated piston rod to reduce friction, just like the CRF450R Works Edition.

As on the CRF450R Works Edition, the rigidity/strength combination has been optimized thanks to components jointly developed by XTRIG and Honda. The motorcycle is also equipped with a steering damper.

The front brake disc is 300 mm for improved braking power. The rear disc, on the other hand, has a revised thickness to improve resistance to extreme stresses and improve heat dissipation.

Developed specifically by HAAN, the hubs are CNC machined from solid aluminum, while the rims are manufactured by Takasago Excel. Cush Drive torque dampers have been added to absorb violent impacts, improve shock absorption, improve riding comfort, and reduce rider fatigue.

The entire engine has been designed with a single purpose: rally. Delivering a maximum power of approximately 58 hp, it retains excellent reliability. The six-speed gearbox with long ratios allows for precise control at any RPM while ensuring exceptional acceleration throughout the RPM range. An oversized auxiliary radiator has been integrated into the technical package to lower oil and water temperatures, thus preserving the overall reliability of the engine even in extreme conditions.

The titanium exhaust silencer, developed by Akrapovic, is the same as that used on the official CRF Rally, offering identical power performance. The collectors and connecting tubes are manufactured directly by HRC.

The motorcycle is equipped with Renthal handlebars, Acerbis handguards, a front fender identical to the factory CRF Rally, oversized footpegs, and a full LED lighting system.
