Overview
Triumph had announced its intentions for motocross and enduro in mid-2021. The response arrived in 2024 with the TF 450-X, quickly joined by the TF 450-RC special edition. A ambitious machine that marked Triumph’s debut in its category. This motocross specifically designed benefits from the latest technical updates introduced on the TF 250-X.
A new Exedy clutch optimizes lubrication orifices, further improving durability and tractive force in extreme racing conditions. The new Belleville clutch spring offers optimized operation and consistent engagement. New engine mounts are tuned to deliver more responsive chassis performance, while a new gearbox selector star offers improved gear shifting selection and precise engagement.
The new Performance Yellow graphic kit, with its molded logos, gives the TF 450-X a sporty look, race-ready.
With a maximum power of 62.4 hp at 9,500 rpm, the 450cc Triumph single 4-stroke engine is the most powerful in its class. Its power-to-weight ratio also surpasses that of its competitors, with an ultra-light chassis and a weight of 108.3 kg.
To ensure pilots have everything they need, the TF 450-X is equipped with high-end components, including Brembo brakes, KYB suspension, Pro Taper handlebars, and D.I.D wheels as standard, as well as race-optimized electronics, including launch control, traction control, a quickshifter, and two engine maps.
Designed for racing and delivering relentless torque, the 450cc engine delivers raw power with optimized control. The engine map is taken from the RC edition, improving throttle response and increasing low-end torque, giving pilots more control on corner exits and more powerful starts. A quickshifter is also fitted as standard, allowing clutchless gear changes from 2nd to 5th gear.
Designed to deliver competitive performance, the engine is equipped with a König forged aluminum piston for increased strength and improved durability at high rpm. Optimized flow titanium Del West valves are ultra-light, allowing higher revs and improved response, while DLC-coated lifters and cams minimize friction, improving durability and high-load performance flexibility. Magnesium engine cases, developed for racing, are lightweight, strong, cool effectively, and facilitate maintenance.
The advanced fuel and air system includes a 44mm Dell'Orto throttle body and a Keihin injector. The airbox and silencer, which first appeared on the TF 450-RC edition, improve airflow and throttle response while complying with FIM and AMA noise regulations.
Brembo brakes with Galfer discs offer powerful and consistent braking force. D.I.D DirtStar series 7000 aluminum rims are fitted with Pirelli MX32 mid-soft tires, offering an excellent balance between grip and longevity. A disc guard is available as an option for added protection in challenging conditions.
The TF 450-X retains the Triumph aluminum frame, an ultra-light double cradle design that combines rigidity and flex to deliver 100% confidence. The hydroformed swingarm and linkage system reduce weight while maximizing grip and traction, contributing to excellent rear adhesion and suspension behavior.
KYB settings are also taken from the RC version, developed to improve mid-stroke control, chassis balance, and stability in corners. Optimized through data from competition to deliver professional-level performance, the high-end KYB settings have been tuned for big hits and rhythm sections. 48mm KYB AOS coil spring forks and a separate reservoir adjustable shock are tuned to provide consistent damping, controlled landings, and improved front-end feel across a wide variety of terrains.
Enhanced with high-end components, the TF 450-X is equipped with Neken fork tubes, a ProTaper ACF handlebar, and ODI lock-on grips, complementing a comfortable riding position. The final drive includes a D.I.D 520 SDH chain and a JT sprocket/crown set developed jointly.
The complete electronic package includes launch control, traction control, a shifter, and two engine maps. Pilots can switch between power modes using handlebar controls or the optional MX Tune Pro app, which also unlocks up to ten additional engine maps when paired with the engine management unit accessory. A sensor dashboard provides real-time engine data, diagnostics, and maintenance alerts, while a discreet hour meter records engine run time.
The Athena ECU controls ignition, launch, traction, and mapping settings and is integrated with GET Power Assist for smooth traction and launch control.
In addition to the included specifications, Triumph has partnered with the leading brands to create a range of accessories to further enhance performance and capabilities. These accessories include:
