Overview
Who said an adventure motorcycle had to be a large, soporific tractor? With this Tiger 900 Rally Pro, Triumph demonstrates that you can combine character and technology, even when the pavement turns to gravel. Faced with a BMW F 850 GS Adventure or a Yamaha Ténéré 700, it clearly plays the card of sophistication and abundant equipment. A risky bet at nearly €17,000, but one that finds its audience.

The heart of the beast is this 888 cm3 triple that has gained bite with its new firing order. The 95 horsepower are there for the highway, but it is mainly the 87 Nm of torque, available early, that steals the show as soon as you leave the straight road. This engine is a true companion, supple and burly, that pulls relentlessly and gives this Triumph a unique temperament in the segment. Paired with a dry weight of 201 kg, it offers surprising agility for a machine as well-protected, with its engine guard and aluminum bars.
Speaking of equipment, that’s where things get… or shine, depending on your philosophy. The Rally Pro is a true technological showcase. Between the fully adjustable Showa suspension, the Brembo Stylema brakes, the 7-inch TFT screen, the heated seats, and the bi-directional quickshifter, you feel like you’re piloting a spaceship. The Off-Road Pro mode, which cuts all electronic assistance, is a real plus for initiates. But all this has a price, and a weight. This profusion may seem superfluous to a hard-core globetrotter who prefers the mechanical simplicity of a Ténéré. It’s the eternal debate: is adventure in the gadget or in the spirit?
The seat height of 860 mm recalls that you are on a true trail bike, reserved for substantial builds or the daring. Fortunately, the motorcycle is surprisingly easy to live with once in motion. The 20-liter tank promises beautiful ranges, even with consumption approaching 5.2L/100km. For those watching the value of the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, the shock can be harsh when buying new. That’s why the used market for a Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro 2022 or 2021 is becoming very attractive, allowing access to this technology at a softer price.

So, who is this machine for? Clearly not for the beginner, nor for those who plan to leave their motorcycle in the ditch every weekend. The Rally Pro targets the demanding globetrotter, the one who wants to cover long distances on all types of terrain without compromising on comfort and electronics. It’s the Rolls of mid-size trails, brilliant and versatile, but which requires a significant budget, both for purchase and for Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro accessories such as luggage. On forums dedicated to the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, opinions are often unanimous: it is a reference, but its price is its main drawback. A test ride of the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro remains the best way to convince yourself that, sometimes, the superfluous is essential.
