Overview
Imagine a motorcycle built to devour continents without a second thought, a machine where autonomy and comfort are not options but the very heart of the project. The Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer 2024 embodies precisely this philosophy of absolute travel. With its 30-liter tank, it promises nearly 600 kilometers between fill-ups, a figure that radically changes the game for long-distance travelers. In this little game, it outperforms many of its rivals, including the BMW GS, which often has to stop more frequently. This is its first major argument, a sign that it doesn’t joke about its vocation as a great traveler.

Under the hood, the 1160 cm3 triple has been reworked for this year, gaining flexibility at low RPM while refining its response. With 150 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque, it lacks neither punch nor character. Triumph has mainly lightened the whole assembly, including the frame and swingarm, to try to tame a fully fueled weight of 255 kg. It’s still massive, let's be honest, especially when stationary. But once launched, the magic happens. The semi-active Showa fork and the rear shock absorber, both with 200 mm of travel, swallow road imperfections with astonishing ease. The Brembo Stylema braking system, for its part, inspires absolute confidence, even when the beast is heavily loaded.
Where the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer truly distinguishes itself for the demanding traveler is in its standard equipment. Here, everything is designed for the open road. The blind spot detection radar, heated seats and grips, the manually adjustable screen, the optimized cornering traction control, and the 7-inch connected TFT screen form a complete arsenal. Add to that the five riding modes, including one dedicated to off-road that limits power to 100 hp, and you get a motorcycle ready for all latitudes. The active pre-load function, which lowers the saddle from 850 mm when stationary, is an ingenious detail for those intimidated by the size.

The price, however, is displayed at 22,995 euros. This is a significant amount, but it is justified by the plethora of technologies on board. Compared to an equivalently equipped BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, the Tiger defends itself very well, often offering better value for money. For those seeking the most accomplished grand touring trail in the Triumph range, with no compromise on autonomy and comfort, it is a logical choice. Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer accessories, such as panniers, complete the package for those who want to push the adventure even further.
Ultimately, this motorcycle is not just an evolution, it is a statement of intent. Triumph clearly targets the demanding globetrotter, for whom distance is not a constraint but a reason for being. It brilliantly combines the musculature of a large trail with the technical sophistication of a high-end GT. Its only real flaw remains its weight, palpable in slow maneuvers, but it’s the price to pay for its comfort and its monster tank. On the road, this flaw disappears in favor of stability and flexibility that make the kilometers disappear. A serious machine, for limitless journeys.
