Overview

With the appearance of an evolution of the Multistrada V4 in 2025, Ducati presented not just one novelty but three. In addition to the base version, the Italian brand also renewed the S and Pikes Peak versions. The S version is a model that I would describe as intermediate and dedicated to enhanced versatility and comfort, while the Pikes Peak is a bomb designed to set record times.

Stylistically, this Multistrada V4 S incorporates the slight style evolutions of the standard version. Daytime running lights bring the Multistrada’s appearance closer to the Panigale, along with more paint on the fork legs. Speaking of lighting, the Multistrada is equipped with Cornering Lights, which reduce the dark cone in front of the front wheel when the motorcycle is leaned into a turn. Another useful gadget, the Coming Home function extends the delay of the front headlight after you turn off the ignition to illuminate dark streets when the motorcycle is parked.

Regarding the trim of this S version, Ducati has moved the position of the panniers and top case to offer more space for the passenger. This comfort can be further improved with independently customizable saddles and thanks to a lowered suspension kit for shorter riders.

The Multistrada V4 S receives, compared to the base model, the semi-active suspension called Skyhook DSS EVO. Already seen at Ducati, this technology has featured a new sensor mounted on the fork since 2025. This sensor constantly seeks to predict the road ahead or at least the degradation of the ground under the front wheel, thanks in particular to the detection of bumps, to immediately adapt the stiffness of the rear suspension to the road surface irregularities.

This intelligent suspension also allows you to maintain a constant bike attitude regardless of the load: "rider," "rider + passenger," and "luggage." And if this suite of suspension management aids is not enough for you, regardless of the riding mode selected, you can still use a dedicated button (even while riding) to vary the response of the damper with + comfort or + sportiness.

The Multistrada V4 S is also equipped with automatic lowering of the motorcycle. This model integrates the Automatic Lowering Device. The operation is simple: the motorcycle lowers by reducing its suspension travel automatically when it descends below 10 km/h. When the rider accelerates, beyond 50 km/h, the Multistrada V4 automatically returns to the riding height. This assistance is certainly very practical and can still be disconnected by the rider.

The Multistrada V4 S is equipped with a front and rear radar system that informs the adaptive cruise control (ACC) in order to always maintain the correct safety distance. To avoid any driver distraction when overtaking, the Multistrada V4 S is also equipped with blind spot detection (BSD), which signals the presence of vehicles approaching in the blind spots of the mirrors.

Another aid complements this already very high-performing duo. The motorcycle receives the Forward Collision Warning (FCW) function, which warns the driver of potential collisions with a vehicle ahead with a contextual window on the dashboard. In the event of emergency braking, the Ducati stop light will activate the hazard lights to warn following vehicles.

The control systems that tame the motorcycle's power, such as ABS Cornering, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), and Ducati Traction Control (DTC), receive electronic monitoring called Ducati Vehicle Observer. This technology establishes scenarios from 70 sensors to select the best and send it to the inertial unit that manages the intervention of the driving aids.

The V4 generation, called Granturismo, extends the efficiency of cylinder deactivation, including during riding phases (at low load / engine solicitation). It is the rear cylinders that are cut off during these phases to allow a reduction in consumption / CO2 emissions of 6% according to Ducati. Despite this, the V4 still develops 170 hp (125 kW) at 10,750 rpm and 123.8 Nm at 9,000 rpm.

Depending on your mood or the weather conditions of your journey, you will have five riding modes available. The 2025 evolution, Ducati has modified the settings of the Enduro mode and offers a new Wet (wet / rain) mode. The other three modes: Sport (170 hp), Touring (170 hp), and Urban (115 hp) do not evolve.

Although not really an off-road machine born for mud, Ducati has created an Enduro mode. This reduces the V4 power to 114 hp with an adapted throttle response and electronics for liaison in the paths. Traction control and wheelie prevention are limited in their actions when the rear ABS is simply deactivated. The goal: prevent the electronics from panicking and causing you to fall.

Another engine control at your disposal: Engine Brake Control. The rider can adjust the engine braking level in 3 levels, particularly useful in mountain descents in duo to relieve the brake pads.

This S version of the Multistrada V4 does everything to take care of the motorcycle's comfort. The piloted suspension, Brembo Stylema calipers, the larger TFT screen (with connectivity, multimedia, and GPS navigator), and the Keyless system bring the price up to 25,690 euros (excluding options). A price that places the Multistrada V4 S quite clearly above its competitors such as the Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro. At this level, dare we still talk about trail bikes? No, these are mutants good at doing everything but the price starts to be salty...
