Overview
While Ducati has positioned the Multistrada V4 RS at the pinnacle of the family, the Pikes Peak is not relegated to the scrapheap. That’s a good thing. Its sporty character is more homogenous, less brutal than that of the RS, which inherits the engine from the Panigale. But rest assured, the 1158 cc Granturismo V4 retains a massive power output, with 170 horsepower at 10750 rpm and a torque of 124 Nm. The sportiness is simply more civilized.

This 2026 version maintains an aggressive aesthetic tradition initiated in 2011, even if the numbered plaques are more discreet. The look remains deeply inspired by racing, with a titanium and carbon Akrapovic exhaust, a smoked screen, ostentatious Ducati Corse and V4 logos, and carbon fiber elements on the mudguard and front fender. The visual identity is clear: it’s a machine that displays its ambitions.
The fundamental transformation lies in its chassis, which shifts from a trail bike to something resembling an oversized hypermotard. The 17-inch forged Marchesini wheels, with their new split five-spoke design, and especially the single-sided swingarm, are strong signals. They are reserved for the most aggressive Multistradas and offer a perpetual nod to the 916. Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires (120/70 and 190/55) and a revised riding position – a lower, narrower, and less curved handlebar, and offset footpegs – naturally invite aggressive riding.
The heart of this sporty evolution lies in the Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 suspension. A 48 mm inverted fork and a TTX36 mono shock, both electronically controlled, replace the Marzocchi components from the S version. The major novelty is the independence between the damping profile and the riding mode. You can now mix a Track, Dynamic, Comfort, or Low Grip profile with any of the five Riding Modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Race). The system is also recalibrated to be firmer in Sport mode and paradoxically more comfortable when touring. The electronics are enhanced with three-level engine braking management and intelligent combined braking.
The technological package is immense, with a DVO platform simulating 70 sensors to refine traction control, wheelie control, and cornering ABS. There is also a 6.5-inch TFT screen, a GPS, a keyless system, a quickshifter, an adaptive cruise control (linked to radar), adaptive headlights, and even a flashing brake light for emergency stops. The radar, standard equipment, is used for front collision detection, blind spot alert, and adaptive cruise control.
Based on the second-generation Multistrada V4 S, the Pikes Peak benefits from all its improvements: an engine adapted to Euro 5+, extended cylinder deactivation to reduce consumption, a more aggressive front end, improved lighting, and a rear disc increased to 280 mm. Its declared weight of 227 kg fully fueled is slightly lower than that of the standard version, even if measurement methods change.
The aluminum monocoque frame, Brembo Stylema brakes with 330 mm discs, and Öhlins suspension form a very accomplished assembly. The Pikes Peak V4 phase 2 gains in style and efficiency without betraying its fundamentals. It is a tall, sporty machine, unreasonable, and that is precisely what its audience is looking for: experienced riders seeking a versatile machine capable of radical road performance, with the character and technology of Ducati. Its price of 31990 euros places it in a very exclusive segment, in direct competition with other large sport-trails, but it stands out for its total commitment to pure sportiness.
