Overview
What was missing from the Scout lineup for Indian to push things even further than the Bobber? The answer comes down to one word: attitude. The Indian Scout Rogue lands in 2022 with a simple mission — turn the accessible custom into a mean-looking machine. No technical revolution here. We're talking image work, stance, details that change perception without touching the foundations. And the result, it must be said, works rather well.

The base is well known. The 60° V-twin displacing 1133 cc puts out 94 horsepower at 8000 rpm and 97 Nm of torque at 5600 rpm. Honest figures, enough to push the 250 kg wet weight to 200 km/h in a straight line. Not enough to worry a Harley Low Rider S on paper, but the Scout Rogue isn't playing that game. Its turf is the boulevard, the sideways glance at the red light, the silhouette that sticks in people's minds. The engine remains identical to the Bobber's, with no dedicated mapping or reworked exhaust system. Yet we would have liked Indian to dare a little something on the engine character front to justify the "Rogue" name. That's the main regret with this version.
What does change is everything else about the styling. Indian blacked out nearly the entire motorcycle, grafted on a compact front fairing that gives the machine a closed-off look, and fitted a mini ape hanger handlebar that straightens up the riding position. The front wheel moves to 19 inches, where other Scouts make do with a 16-inch, which sharpens the steering and gives a leaner profile. The seat, lowered to 649 mm, plants the rider right down near the ground. This is a custom in the strict sense: you sit in it, not on it. The 12.5-liter tank will limit the Indian Scout Rogue's range on long rides — expect around 200 kilometers before hitting reserve. For urban and suburban use, that's enough. For open-road riding, better plan your stops.
On the chassis side, the cast aluminum frame gets the job done without any particular brilliance. The 41 mm telescopic fork offers 120 mm of travel, while the twin rear shocks make do with just 51 mm. Suffice to say that on rough roads, comfort remains basic. The braking, with a single 298 mm disc per wheel and modest calipers, doesn't shine in terms of stopping power. It's functional, nothing more. The belt drive and six-speed gearbox, on the other hand, deliver real smoothness in everyday use. An important point for those wondering: no cruise control on this 2022 version. You'll need to turn to the Indian Scout Rogue accessories catalog to personalize the machine, as the factory options list remains short.

Up against the Triumph Bonneville Bobber, more British and more refined in its finish, or the Harley Low Rider S, more brutal and more expensive, the Scout Rogue plays the accessible Indian custom card at 15,590 euros. It won't suit beginners despite its low seat — the weight and displacement demand a minimum of experience. The Indian Scout Rogue's shocks deserve a quick replacement for anyone riding beyond city limits. But for the rider looking for a machine with bold visual character, mechanically easy to live with and open to custom personalization, the Rogue delivers on its promise. It sells style before it sells performance, and it does so without apology.
