Overview
The Indian Scout had long wanted to become a rogue; a custom to fan the embers of a rebellion. The Bobber version could have taken on this role, but it was clearly not enough, and so here is the Scout Rogue.
A more mean, almost unruly motorcycle, with dark circles above its eyes. An engine that appeals to leather jacket riders, chain forgers, and tattooed shoulders. We are not looking for performance, nor for fights under grimy neon lights. The Rogue simply wants to kick the shins of those dandies who get too close.
Its genesis begins not with the Scout, but with the Scout Bobber. Indian blackened 95% of the machine (except for the tank and sometimes the fairings for certain colors). Next comes the time to give it a new face, with a small fork head with a vicious look. Just behind, a “mini ape hanger” handlebar allows for a more upright posture. And to place your hands at the right height to land a right hook on whoever grumbles in your way.
When the brothers command the direction with a 16-inch wheel, the Rogue prefers a 19-inch wheel, to give itself a little more maneuverability. It also offers a more substantial seat with a sport-style saddle to better brace the torso during acceleration; if the rider were to get angry with the 95 horsepower twin.
Regrettably, the manufacturer did not provide any power increase, special mapping, or stinky exhausts for the Rogue. Yet, with such a name, there is a glimmer of hope for a more aggressive engine character. But no. The engine and chassis remain identical, with a 1133 cm3 engine and almost 10 mkg, an aluminum backbone, a single disc brake per wheel, a 43 mm fork, and a pair of shock absorbers.
The stripped-down rear provides a low-slung seat at just 649 mm. There is also a hidden USB port on the side of the speedometer, 12.5 liters of fuel in the tank, a few kilos less than the Bobber (247 nonetheless), and a wished-for outlaw look.
This Scout Rogue presents itself as the best enemy of the Triumph Bonneville Bobber and Harley Low Rider S. The English one requires a suit, a title, and an ecstasy; on the Milwaukee side, access is only possible with tanned leather with charcoal; the Indian will require a jacket soaked in bad deeds, rogue manners, and studs in the pants.
