Overview
When Bologna presented the Panigale V4, a legitimate question arose within the community of twin enthusiasts: what do you do with the V-twin? The answer is the Ducati Panigale V2, and it immediately asserts its own logic. Not a byproduct, not a watered-down version for the faint of heart. A full-fledged machine, with its 955 cm3 Superquadro and 155 horsepower at 10,750 rpm, which traces its own path without complex feelings against the quad-cylinder ogre.

The engine deserves closer examination. This 90-degree V-twin draws on a bore of 100 mm for a stroke of 60.8 mm, a square-short geometry that revs high without sacrificing torque. The 104 Nm arriving at 9,000 rpm gives the motorcycle a muscular consistency absent in Japanese four-cylinder engines like the Yamaha R1 or the Honda CBR1000RR-R. The Ducati Panigale V2 technical specifications also reveal a contained dry weight of 176 kg, or 200 kg fully fueled with its 17 liters of fuel. For 18,390 euros, you buy a balanced machine rather than a race bomb with painful usage. Those who have ridden the Ducati Panigale V2 1299 will recognize in this Superquadro its direct lineage, with the added benefit of Euro 5 compliance and a reworked injection calibration.
What strikes you upon examining the chassis is the confidence Ducati places in its aluminum monocoque structure. This central cell, which simultaneously plays the role of frame and airbox, doesn't budge. A good move. The 43 mm Showa BPF inverted fork and the remotely adjustable Sachs shock work on a wheelbase of 1,436 mm. The seat is perched at 830 mm, a height that naturally selects its audience, even though the 2021 Ducati Panigale V2 benefits from extra padding compared to the previous generation. The aluminum monobras, found on this version, is enough to justify the visual pleasure. Brembo brakes with dual front discs and cornering ABS, made possible by the 6-axis IMU inertial unit, are part of what justifies the entry ticket. The white Ducati Panigale V2, like the red one, carries these taut lines with a formal coherence that few manufacturers achieve at this price.

The onboard electronics mark a real qualitative leap compared to the 959. Traction control DTC EVO 2 with its 8 levels, the bidirectional DQS EVO 2 quickshifter sensitive to lean angle, wheelie control DWC and cornering ABS form a coherent unit. The 4.3-inch color TFT display centralizes all of this without fuss. For those who want to push the analysis on the track, a Ducati Data Analyzer with GPS is available as an option. Sound customization enthusiasts will note compatibility with Ducati Panigale V2 Arrow exhaust or Ducati Panigale V2 Termignoni exhaust, which radically transform the acoustics of the Superquadro. Three riding modes, adjustable engine braking management; nothing is missing to adapt the machine to its context.

What kind of rider mounts this motorcycle? Not the beginner, despite the manageable 155 horsepower. Not the hardcore track rider who dreams of a Ducati Panigale V2 R with a pure competition vocation. Rather the experienced driver who wants a credible sportbike for occasional track riding and beautiful enough not to regret the purchase when cold. The announced top speed of 270 km/h remains a theoretical figure; it is the quality of the dynamics in curves that gives meaning to the machine. In this respect, the V2 possesses what the four-cylinder cannot simulate: a sonorous and vibratory personality that transforms each outing into an event. The Ducati Panigale V2 used market testifies to this solid rating. Owners sell little, and when they sell, it's expensive. It's not a coincidence.
