Overview
When Ducati decides to push its Multistrada to its geographical limits, the result is the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally. A machine designed for those who find long roads too short and borders too close. On paper, the philosophy echoes that of large adventure bikes: XL tank, long suspension, high silhouette. But where the BMW R 1300 GS Adventure plays the German robustness and the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro the British elegance, the Italian Rally balances 170 horsepower extracted from an 1158 cc Granturismo V4 in an envelope that is anything but lacking in character.

What strikes you first is the size. The adjustable saddle reaches between 870 and 890 mm, which imposes a natural selection for boarding. Ducati has understood the challenge and equips the Rally with an Easy Lift function: the Marzocchi Skyhook suspensions electronically soften to facilitate maneuvering when stopped. Clever, even if it confirms that this motorcycle will not forgive an ill-prepared rider. To compensate for the 260 kg when fully fueled, the engineers worked on the center of gravity and the 200 mm of travel at each end give real confidence on degraded surfaces. On real dirt, the limits arrive faster: 230 mm of ground clearance and a significant weight frame off-asphalt ambitions to their proper level.
The engine is the real selling point. The Granturismo V4 runs here in top form and the horsepower surges with a frankness that recalls the brand's sportbikes. The rear cylinder deactivation function, already present on other V4s, goes even further on the Rally: it can operate at low speed to save fuel and calories. As soon as you open the throttle frankly, the four cylinders resume their mission. This intelligent thermal management is welcome at the Roman traffic light in the middle of August. The 30-liter tank, eight more than on the standard V4, allows you to confidently consider stages beyond 400 km if you are not too generous with the right-hand grip.

The electronic equipment of the 2024 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally places the machine at the top of the segment. Four riding modes, four engine maps, DSS Evolution semi-active suspensions, radar with adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection, IMU, bidirectional shifter, 6.5-inch TFT screen: the list would make many premium sedans blush. The Enduro mode deserves a particular mention, it has been specifically recalibrated for this version: 115 horsepower, softened traction control, rear ABS disconnected, damping recalculated for off-road. It doesn't transform the Rally into a competition enduro, but it allows it to cross a forest track without the stress of overly intrusive electronics.

To answer the question that systematically returns in the forums: what is the price of a Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally? The answer is 27,590 euros in base configuration, before Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally accessories. Three optional packs structure the offer, from the Adventure Radar pack to the Full Adventure with Akrapovic silencer and carbon fender. The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally technical specifications are seductive, the price is less so. Faced with an Africa Twin Adventure Sports or even a Tiger 1200 Rally Pro, the price difference is significant. But the Italian V4 offers a technological density and an engine temperament that its rivals do not reproduce. It is not a motorcycle for beginners, nor for those on a tight budget. It is a tool for great travelers who want to leave the asphalt from time to time, without ever renouncing the mechanical pleasure typical of Borgo Panigale.
