Overview
When Ducati decides to play the luxury card, the Bologna-based manufacturer never does things halfway. The 2015 Diavel 1200 Titanium pushes the refinement slider well beyond what you'd expect from a muscle bike. We already knew the Carbon version, which had laid the groundwork for a more dressed-up Diavel. Here, Ducati goes a step further by calling upon aerospace-grade materials to wrap around mechanicals that remain untamed. The result is a machine that could just as easily hold court at a concours d'élégance as leave two black streaks on a boulevard's asphalt.

Titanium, then. This metal usually found in the guts of military jets or submarine hulls appears here on the headlight cowl and the tank surface. The seat cowl pairs a titanium insert with a carbon trim, and this fiber spreads across the entire machine. Mudguard, radiator covers, sprocket guard, flyscreen, fuel cap surround, air scoops redesigned for the occasion — carbon dresses the Diavel Titanium like a bespoke suit. Add in specific forged aluminum wheels, a tubular trellis frame finished in black chrome, exhaust headers treated with Zircotec ceramic coating, and a leather seat lined with alcantara featuring red stitching. The level of finish borders on watchmaking. Every detail has been conceived to set this series apart from the standard Diavel, and a single glance is enough to understand you're no longer playing in the same league.
Beneath this lavish display of noble materials, the technical foundation remains the one that built the model's reputation. The 1198 cc Testastretta 11° L-twin delivers 162 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 132.4 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. Enough to propel the 234 kg wet weight to 250 km/h with an authority few roadsters can claim. The electronic management backs up this firepower with ride-by-wire, eight-level adjustable traction control, ABS, three riding modes, and keyless ignition. The 50 mm inverted fork and mono-shock each offer 120 mm of travel, a road-biased compromise perfectly suited to this machine's intended use. Braking, handled by two 320 mm front discs with four-piston radial calipers, leaves no doubt about stopping power.
The Diavel Titanium is not aimed at the rider looking for a versatile tool for the daily commute. It targets the enthusiast who already has a well-stocked garage and wants a collector's piece capable of riding hard. Up against a Yamaha VMax or a Triumph Rocket III from the same era, it counters with a more Latin, more high-strung temperament, a contained weight, and significantly more sophisticated electronics. Its price point of €28,990 places it in a stratosphere where competition is scarce, but the limitation to 500 individually numbered units — each identified by a plaque on the tank — partly justifies that demand. It's the price of an object that refuses to be ordinary, a Ducati designed for those who want as much spectacle at a standstill as they do an adrenaline rush on corner exit.
