Overview

Wild, iconoclastic, rebellious, provocative, the Triumph Bobber nevertheless remains a motorcycle with a sense of propriety. This is partly why it is being updated in 2026.

With redesigned parts such as the headlight nacelle, intake covers, and side panels under the seat. It also aims to be a better road companion with lighter spoke wheels (for more agility), a wider and more comfortable seat, an inertial measurement unit to make the ABS and traction control more precise, and a reshaped tank with 14 liters. With its 2 extra liters, the adventure should be extended by a small fifty kilometers. And to think the first Bobber only had 9 liters in the tank.

Such a style-driven machine might seem reserved for certain gang leaders, weathered veterans, and fashion detractors. A new clan might crave it: now, the 1200 Bobber can be restricted to A2.

This machine has truly captured the hearts of custom enthusiasts. Such audacity in the rear would not have surprised us from a tuner, an American brand, or a Marvel storyboard... But coming from Triumph, it shakes the foundations. Remember 2021: having gone through the 'Euro5 upgrade' case, the Bonnie Bobber had seriously reinforced its front frame. Doubling of discs, increased braking power, a more intimidating front wheel... This reminds us of something... Yes! It outrageously recovered all the equipment of the ex-Black version. Consequently, the two models merged and only one Bobber remains in the catalog.

How was this perceived at the time? The fork goes from 41 to 47 mm. The front wheel shrinks from 19 to 16 inches and gains a second 310 mm brake disc. More muscular, more substantial, the rear of the motorcycle undeniably gains in aggression; but also in efficiency. This front frame will allow for a more virile ride, more in line with the dark soul of the men of the shadows who will desire it. The balance appreciates it less - we now exceed 250 kilos.

Common (its technical base) to the Bonnie T120, Scramblers, Speedmaster and the former Thruxton, the 1200 cm3 twin revives its prerogatives. The engine specialists have given it here a more "high torque" character to match the bobber spirit. It propels the English bike into its "High Torque" version, under the temperament of its two (Road and Rain) maps improved in 2021. Electronics are present as on all recent machines in the Triumph range, namely traction control, ABS cornering, ride-by-wire, LED lights, coded immobilizer, and an injection cleverly concealed behind faux carburetors. Place your seat, turn the key, wake the twin and open generously. There is almost 11 mkg of torque waiting at 4000 rpm and a herd of 78 horsepower through the connecting rods.

Under the light of the headlight, you can guess its black gaze. Even if, in fact, it is mainly the DRL signature of the daytime running lights that is noticeable. More painted in black, a fine touch of the instrumentation and the installation of a cruise control complete the update of this extravagant machine.

Its appearance is still so striking, with a stripped-down motorcycle, proud of a seductive gaze on America. Because inspiration as well as the thirst for conquest are truly linked to the land of Uncle Sam. Surprising, visually violent, UK in front and US behind, this Bonneville wants to mark the minds. Bring out the scuffed leathers, the full-face helmets with hair and the growls of seasoned evenings. The 1200 Bobber is arriving!

How did this happen!? Did a maniac roaming Hinckley crack his chainsaw on a T120? Not exactly, but that's what the approach is like. With all sorts of changes, the Bonnie transforms into a pure style motorcycle, with the perfect bobber kit (hence its name).

Purified, stripped of superfluities, it leaves the curious glued to its semi-suspended single seat. Looks: terrible. Comfort? It should do because the seat is adjustable, via a few tools. According to the manufacturer, the aluminum seat support can be raised, moved forward, lowered and moved back until the ideal seat position is achieved. Triumph has pushed the design to create a faux hardtail for the rear of the frame. Somewhat in the image of the Softail from Harley-Davidson. Triumph cleverly conceals its single shock absorber under the seat.

Consequently, the frame of the Bonneville had to be redesigned. And details had to be pushed to satisfy a clientele eager for customization. The mudguards are redesigned with a reduced front and a rear integrated with the swingarm tubes. Guaranteed effect with the movement of the wheel. It was also necessary to accommodate the battery on the outside left, after the casing. The exhausts are reworked, proud of a brushed stainless steel, with a beveled shape and a more compact size. Wonderfully retouched, the Bobber really looks like a Bonneville that has been gnawed by a giant beast.

With this 1200 Bobber, Triumph gives a kick in the teeth to Harley, with a machine that strikes the preparation. Almost a descendant of the Rocker C. It is aimed at people who chew tobacco in the morning, those who wrap the girl without letting her any hope of clinging on, the loonies of the hangar and the hammers of the workshop. But that was before the marketing side came back. Dozens of accessories are on display behind the Bobber. Which only dreams of the burring hand of the enthusiast.
