Overview
Take a step back. Look at this silhouette, this perimeter double-beam aluminum frame, this 40 mm inverted fork, these flanks as taut as on a large-displacement sportbike. Now read the displacement: 124.63 cc. Doubt creeps in, and that’s exactly where Cagiva wanted to take you.

The Mito EV deliberately plays on visual ambiguity. It borrows the aesthetic codes of the great Italian supersports of the golden age, and it does so without complex. At 129 kg dry, it is light, almost aggressive on its 110/70 tires at the front and 150/60 at the rear, dimensions that are nothing ridiculous for a small displacement. The two-stroke single-cylinder engine produces 36 horsepower at 12,000 rpm and develops 22.9 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm in its unrestricted configuration. In the French version, restricted to 15 horsepower, the character remains, but so does the frustration, especially when you know what the mechanics have in store.
The 6-speed gearbox, introduced on the 2000 version, really changes the game on the open road. The narrow powerband, typical of a two-stroke, is better exploited, and the Mito can reach 175 km/h under the right conditions. The new six-spoke rims slightly weigh down the look compared to the old three-spoke ones, but the whole remains consistent. The front disc, the well-calibrated suspensions, all of this adds up to produce a behavior that many 600s struggle to match in terms of trajectory precision.
The downside is real and must be stated clearly. A high-performance two-stroke requires sustained mechanical attention. Neglecting engine maintenance risks seizing, and on this Mito, that risk is concrete. With a 14-liter tank, typical fuel consumption for a high-revving two-stroke, autonomy will not be your priority. And at 5,795 euros, we are flirting with the prices of 500 cc four-stroke singles, or even small used four-cylinder engines in good condition. The price positioning therefore presupposes an informed buyer, not a beginner looking for a practical first machine.

The Mito EV is for those who know what they are buying: an object of passion, a miniature pilot's motorcycle, built for pure pleasure and not for utility. It does not compromise on comfort, it makes no concessions to daily practicality. This is its strength and its limit. For a rider who wants to hone their technique on a healthy and direct machine, it remains a reference in its category. For others, more docile options are not lacking.
