Overview
Imagine that Aprilia hands you the keys to an RSV4 prepared by its own race department, homologated for road use but designed to truly excel on the track. That's the project behind the Factory Works versions, a range of preparations that starts with an already formidable base and pushes it to the peaks of world Superbike performance.

The 999.6 cc V4 engine, with its 78 mm bore and 52.3 mm stroke, develops 201 horsepower at 14,000 rpm in standard configuration. That’s already a declaration of war. But in its track-derived version, this displacement increases to 230 horsepower, an increase of nearly 15% achieved through ECU reprogramming and maps developed directly by Aprilia Racing. To put the competition in perspective, the Ducati Panigale V4 R or the BMW M 1000 RR of the same generation struggle on the same terrain, but few can boast such a direct and customizable factory support.
The RSV4 R FW Stock 1 version constitutes the first level of this pyramid. It includes the original Race Pack, namely Öhlins suspension front and rear, an inverted 43 mm fork with TiN surface treatment and a fully adjustable piggyback shock absorber, plus forged wheels to reduce unsprung mass. ABS is removed, a lithium battery reduces the weight, and the cooling circuit thermostat is eliminated for increased thermal responsiveness. These are not cosmetic options; they are assumed competition choices that impact road usability but reinforce the project's coherence. A seat height of 840 mm and a 17-liter tank remind you that this is a track bike capable of handling relays, not a roadster for Sunday coffee.
At a base price of €17,200, the Aprilia RSV4 R FW-GP price may seem high even before considering further evolutions. But this price includes something that its competitors do not systematically offer: technical training provided by Aprilia Racing, followed by track validation. You are not buying a motorcycle; you are buying a program. The budget then becomes the only real limit, as preparation levels can lead to a near-clone of the machines entered in the World Superbike Championship.
This positioning is clear and unambiguous. The RSV4 R FW is not for beginners or urban riders seeking image. It speaks to a trained rider, accustomed to slicks and lap times, who wants to progress with cutting-edge equipment without going through a full team structure. The road-track compromise leans resolutely towards the second, with a tense ergonomics and a high seat that make the approach rides to the track functional but never pleasant. On the clean asphalt of a track, however, the rigidity of the aluminum frame with adjustable long-arms and the precision of the Öhlins combine to create a chassis of rare coherence. The announced top speed of 300 km/h on the long straights, the ground clearance of 130 mm, the 200/55-ZR17 tire set at the rear, all contribute to a tool calibrated for performance, not for seduction.
Perhaps that is its greatest merit, and its only real flaw for those seeking versatility. Aprilia had the courage to build a radical proposition, without marketing concessions, risking reducing its audience to a handful of enthusiasts capable of exploiting its potential.
