Overview

Here, we are at the top of Triumph’s trail/touring range. The Tiger Explorer is here as a true lord of the road. Over-equipped, advocating for an abundance of onboard assistance and comfort features, the XRt puts forward arguments in all directions: a large 3-cylinder engine with 139 horsepower and over 12 mkg of torque, a quality chassis, a touring ambition worthy of a sedan, and the look of an English rock.

T for Touring? The XRx already fulfills that function well, with its TSAS pilot suspensions, its 3 riding modes, cruise control, cornering ABS, heated grips, etc... Triumph believes that an even more upscale Explorer has its place at the top of the range. It must be said that advances in electronics have made it possible to develop many small comforts. This is how the Explorer XRt adds to its saddlebag both practical and lavish features. It is up to each person to choose which category to classify the added elements, such as: the taller screen, the tire pressure monitoring system, the mounting plates for optional luggage, hill-hold assist, engine protection bars, heated rider and passenger seats, and additional riding modes. On the XR, you find two modes, 'Route' and 'Rain'. The XRx adds the 'Off-Road', more geared towards excursions. The XRt refines this with 'Sport' and 'Rider Configurable'. The former will provide maximum engine exploitation by providing a more direct response from the throttle command. ABS setting will ensure optimum braking on paved roads. The 'Sport' configuration will increase rear wheel slip compared to Route mode, to offer a more dynamic ride. TSAS will ensure firmer compression to tackle the most winding roads. As for 'Rider Configurable', it will simply allow the rider to adjust everything, to program HIS riding mode.

Thus equipped, the Tiger Explorer XRt needs little more, if not a pair of saddlebags. The plethora of equipment is paid for with a 10-kilo increase compared to the base version and a significant budgetary increase... And yet less painful than with some competitors. All in a finely suggested English atmosphere. If Jaguar had designed a motorcycle, it would probably look like this one.
