Indian charges 18,890 euros for this limited edition, which gets you a color-matched headlight fairing, black-painted Akrapovic exhausts, and the privilege of riding a machine that only 149 other people own. The investment-to-exclusivity ratio is something everyone will judge according to their own sensibility. But let's be honest, we've seen special editions that were more generous in content.

Indian FTR 1200 S Stealth Gray

Beneath this stealthy skin, the mechanicals remain strictly identical to the FTR S. And that might be the real selling point, because the foundation is solid. The 60° V-twin displacing 1203 cc puts out 123 horsepower at 8,250 rpm and 119.6 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Numbers that place the FTR among the most muscular roadsters on the American market, capable of approaching 230 km/h. Against a Ducati Monster or a Triumph Street Triple RS, the Indian plays the card of generous low-end torque rather than outright horsepower. Its 12.5:1 compression ratio reveals an engine designed to deliver character, not just raw power.

On the chassis side, Indian made the smart choice of keeping the 17-inch wheels with 120/70 tires up front and 180/55 at the rear, unlike the Championship limited edition which went with different specs. On European roads, this is the most logical setup to make the most of the machine's 233 kg wet weight. The 43 mm inverted fork and monoshock each offer 120 mm of travel, a sport/comfort compromise suited to urban riding and fast secondary roads. Braking is entrusted to Brembo, with twin 320 mm discs gripped by radial-mount four-piston calipers, inspiring confidence. The 780 mm seat height remains accessible, although the mere 13-liter tank will impose frequent stops on high-mileage riders.

The electronic package partly justifies the FTR S range's price positioning. Three engine maps, traction control, cornering ABS, anti-wheelie, cornering stability control, and cruise control: the suite is comprehensive for a roadster of this caliber. The 4.3-inch color TFT display integrates the Ride Command interface, the multifocal LED headlight provides decent visibility, and a USB port keeps your phone charged. Nothing revolutionary, but everything you'd expect from a machine sold at this price point.

The FTR 1200 S Stealth Gray targets a specific audience: the rider who wants to stand out from the flood of Japanese and European roadsters, who appreciates the temperament of a big American twin, and who values exclusivity. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, the standard FTR S does exactly the same job for 2,000 euros less. But if the gray finish turns your head and the thought of spotting your twin at a traffic light is unbearable, these 150 units won't stay at dealerships for long.
