Overview
Deserts have always had something fascinating. The immensity of escape, the unknown, the elusive, or the mystical. Many men dream of going there; the 1200 Tiger proposes to do so.
There, between the dunes and the sun, the imagination readily gives way to heat. But on site, it is cold at night. And also during the day in certain arid landscapes. Thus this Desert Edition distinguishes itself with the standard adoption of heated seats. Simply riding around here at the height of winter will be just as good for appreciating this equipment.
The Triumph Tiger 1200 Desert Edition is also equipped as standard with a rear radar. Not to avoid being caught by wildebeest but to offer a blind spot detector as well as a lane change warning – the motorcycle warns you if a vehicle is likely to overtake you when you are about to change lanes.
Heat, alerts, and two specific colors for this special series. A Crystal White where white reigns with a few scars of red or the more robust Satin Granite all dressed in dark where yellow protrusions stand out.
This Desert Edition follows the same scheme as the 2020-2021 model: take a Tiger already well-equipped and embellish it with more sauce. Here, the original model is the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. It is offered at €600 less than this model (which disappears from the catalog in 2026). The rider will have at his disposal 150 horsepower and 130 Nm from its large 3-cylinder engine derived from the Speed Triple, a large-section inverted fork, piloted damping, spoked wheels, thin tires (90/90-21 and 150/70-118), an adjustable bubble and saddle, Brembo Stylema brakes and a lot of electronics. A quickshifter, 6 Riding Modes, a 7-inch color TFT screen, keyless start, ABCornering, cruise control, traction control, adaptive cornering headlights, hill start assist, etc. Loaded like a mule but much faster.
The price is also loaded. As much as the models in the sector. Except that Triumph is making an effort: cheaper while its equipment is superior. It seems that the 1200 Tiger is preparing to be renewed and makes here its farewell pot.
The Desert Edition theme is also available with the 900 Tiger; in parallel, there is also an Alpine version for the 1200, with the same addition of accessories but in a less adventurous, more GT perspective.
