Overview
Can a motorcycle be both a precision tool and a pure adrenaline rush? With the Triumph Street Triple RS, the question doesn't even arise. Since its arrival, this British roadster has methodically carved its niche, evolving over the years, from the 2017 or 2018 models to the 2022 and 2023 versions, to become this almost intimidating benchmark in the sporty naked segment. Its secret? A detonating cocktail where nothing is left to chance, neither in its sharp technical specifications nor in its attitude.

At the heart of the battle is this 765 cm3 triple, an engine that has matured since the 675 era to become a true weapon. With 123 horsepower at 11,750 rpm and 79 Nm of torque, the figures speak for themselves, but it is mainly the way they are delivered that impresses. The engine has been refined for Euro5 without losing its soul, quite the contrary. Thanks to optimized cams and a revised intake, it gains responsiveness in the mid-range, while retaining its characteristic howl. Faced with a competitor like the KTM 890 Duke R, more raw and focused on low revs, the Triumph plays the card of versatility and linearity. It doesn't just growl, it sings, and it pulls relentlessly to the redline. The six-speed gearbox, now equipped with a bidirectional quickshifter, clicks through the gears with metronomic precision, making each acceleration a small celebration.
But an engine, however brilliant it may be, doesn't do everything. That's where the chassis comes into play. With a dry weight of 166 kg, the Street Triple RS is one of the lightest in its class, a major asset for its agility. The aluminum frame inherited from the Daytona offers perfect rigidity, while the Showa suspension at the front and Öhlins STX40 at the rear ensure millimeter-perfect adjustment and impeccable sensations, whether for a Triumph Street Triple RS test on a winding road or a more intense session. The Brembo M50 brakes, with their radial 4-piston calipers, inspire absolute confidence. The Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tires, fitted as standard, complete the portrait of a motorcycle born to race, even if its price, around 12,100 euros for a new one, clearly positions this RS as a technology jewel for enthusiasts.
Electronics are not left out, with five riding modes, including one dedicated to the track, traction control, and switchable ABS. The TFT dashboard, connected and customizable, is the modern interface of this sportbike. Everything, from the auto-cancel turn signals to the design of the headlights resembling predatory insects, breathes attention to detail. For those looking for a used Triumph Street Triple RS, the 2020 or 2021 models often represent an excellent price-performance ratio, as the evolution between generations has been gradual rather than revolutionary.
So, who is this machine for? Certainly not a beginner. The Street Triple RS is aimed at the demanding rider, the sporty tourer who wants a lively motorcycle every day, and the Sunday track rider who refuses compromises. It demands commitment, but returns it tenfold. Faced with the competition, it does not fight with flashy superlatives, but through a global consistency and balance that commands respect. It is a motorcycle that does not cheat, an honest and intoxicating mechanics, ready to transform every ride into a sportbike session.
