Overview
Can a 765 cm³ triple, designed for the city, genuinely claim the status of a track machine without appearing to be an imposter? With this 2019 Street Triple RS, Triumph has clearly thrown down the gauntlet. This is far from a polished roadster for everyone: the 123 horsepower at 11,750 rpm and 77 Nm of torque announce the tone. With a dry weight of 166 kg, the figures speak for themselves: this English bike wants a fight.

In appearance, it cultivates a certain restraint, almost insidious. No flashy colors, just taut shapes and an LED gaze that doesn't joke around. But get closer, and the message becomes clearer. The four-piston Brembo M50 radial calipers, the 41 mm Showa BPF inverted fork, and the Öhlins STX40 reservoir shock are not there just to look pretty. The aluminum twin-spar frame, inherited from the Daytona, offers rigidity that tolerates no approximations. Faced with a competitor like the KTM 890 Duke R, which is more nervous and raw, the Triumph Street Triple RS 765 relies on surgical precision and an engine with exemplary smoothness.
Just talking about this engine. It is the soul of the machine. Developed in conjunction with Moto2, it breathes technology and delivers its power with remarkable progressiveness. Ride-by-wire throttle and five riding modes, including an exclusive Track mode, allow you to modulate its character. But even in Road mode, the beast growls. The standard up/down quickshifter, paired with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires, confirms the sporty orientation. One might regret the absence of a complete Öhlins fork, a surprising choice on a version costing around €11,900 at the time. The technical specifications of the Triumph Street Triple RS 2020 or subsequent models show that the brand has been able to perpetuate this winning recipe.
Who is the targeted rider? Certainly not a beginner, nor a simple urban explorer. This RS is aimed at the demanding road rider who borders on the track rider, at the one who seeks absolute efficiency on a winding road and can, occasionally, scrape a knee on the track. It demands commitment, rewards with precision and a sensory feedback of great clarity. The reasonable consumption, around 4.7 L/100 km, is almost an anecdote in this context of performance.
Finding a Triumph Street Triple RS used, whether it's a 2017, 2018 or this 2019 model, represents today an excellent opportunity. It embodies an important milestone in the evolution of sporty roadsters, offering a fascinating compromise between urban agility and genuine sporting capabilities. It’s not the most radical machine in the segment, but its charismatic engine and refined chassis make it a reference, a motorcycle that is lived as much as it is ridden.
