Overview
At the end of the 1990s, when everyone wanted a custom bike with deep pockets, Suzuki unleashed its heavy artillery. There was no question of letting the Americans reign unchallenged over the kingdom of chrome and torque. The Intruder LC 1500 was their response, a heavyweight weighing close to 330 kilograms fully fueled, armed with a 1462 cm3 V-twin engine. A simple and robust mechanism, air and oil cooled, which delivered a monstrous torque of 113 Nm from 2300 rpm. The promise? To pull you on the highway without ever needing to downshift, in a serious and regular racket.

But don't be fooled, this Suzuki Intruder LC 1500 is not a disguised sportbike. With just 67 horsepower, it is easily outmatched by competitors of the time, particularly some Harley models of the same size. Its mission is the open road, the endless straight line where its silent shaft drive and elastic engine take on their full meaning. The low rider frame, the 16 and 15 inch wheels, this massive look, all of this proclaims an inspiration from Milwaukee. It targets the touring rider who prioritizes presence and relaxation over pure performance.
However, this giant has its weaknesses, and they are significant. Its 15.5-liter tank is a fuel guzzler when you call upon its large twin-cylinder engine. Range quickly becomes the black spot of your journeys. In the city or in tight turns, its weight and sluggish steering cruelly remind you that you are riding a liner. The five-speed gearbox is not the most precise in the world, and at low speed, maneuvers require muscle.
So, who is the rider of this Suzuki Intruder LC 1500? A motorcyclist looking for the essence of the American custom without paying the exorbitant price. At just over 10,000 euros at the time, it positioned itself as the most accessible option in the large-displacement category. It offers correct comfort, sufficient dual-disc braking, and a significant presence on the road. But you must accept its limitations: a thirsty fuel consumption, reduced agility, and a top speed capped around 170 km/h. It is a character machine, designed for long straight lines and admiring glances, not for hairpin turns or economical trips. A piece of custom history, raw and unrefined, with the qualities and defects that make its authenticity.
