Overview

Four years after its unveiling, it seems that not all 200 RC models have found buyers. Yet, it is a very fine achievement. The F3, like so many MV models, has its RC version. How could it be otherwise….. Who better than a sportbike to carry the colors of a racing department? The edition since 2022 benefits from a slight evolution based on a new platform.

New… new… Not entirely. In reality, the F3 RC is derived from the recent F3 800 RR. The most notable evolution is its widened fairing, natively equipped with integrated winglets, and its enveloping front mudguard with cooling ducts for the brake calipers. Its agility is also enhanced with a 10% lighter rear wheel. Here are the main points. It aims for a beautiful design while taking care of its new designs. The RC 2022 / 2025 livery returns to its fundamentals.

Red – white – green. Patriotism is essential for Italian motorcycles. However, for its RC models, MV-Agusta does not prioritize national colors or its historical coats of arms, but those of the Reparto Corse. It is a matter of tone and prestige to sport the look of the Moto2 and World Supersport machines. It is tense, striking, exciting, flamboyant – but in no way vulgar or presumptuous. It’s MV, after all.

A beautiful suit hiding fine arguments. The F3 is optimized here with a TiN titanium nitride coating on the fork for better tube sliding. Just next to it, a large box impatiently awaits the rider to install some parts. The racing kit provides a racing fuel cap, machined aluminum brake and clutch levers, a matching seat cover, and, above all, a titanium Akrapovic exhaust with a specific ECU. Once everything is installed, the F3 RC spits out 8 more horsepower, for a total of 155 horses at 13,250 rpm. The weight gain for the motorcycle is also 8 kilos.

That was the differences between the RC and the RR. Now, if we compare the RC ’22 with the previous one (from 2020), the fairing has noticeably changed its seasoning. Largely motivated by Euro5, the 3-cylinder has revised its valve guides, adopted new bearings for the crankshaft and pistons, modified the exhaust manifold, retouched engine settings, and optimized the clutch. There has also been work on the motorcycle's main structure, with side chassis plates increasing rigidity, a more efficient oil radiator, and carbon fiber parts for the bodywork (side fairings, front mudguard, cockpit spoiler).

The electronics have also been updated. Continental now handles the ABS. An inertial platform allows it to be reactive in corners. A major change to the dashboard with the grafting of the 5.5-inch (14 cm) TFT screen common to the range; hence a lot of services: Bluetooth, navigator, GPS, MV Ride app. The EAS shifter evolves to its 3rd generation. The F3 also receives a Mobisat tracker. For the rider, the opportunity to refine performance is also conceived with the 4 Riding Modes, traction control, wheelie control, launch control, anti-wheelie control; and occasionally cruise control.

The F3 800 RC will be offered in 200 copies. Once again a fine achievement from Varese, and almost a little piece of dream in a period when the sportbike is losing market share more and more.
