Overview
Who can claim to produce a three-cylinder sportbike capable of rivaling the Japanese four-cylinder machines on track while retaining the soul of a master craftsman's creation? MV Agusta, of course. With the F3 800 RC 2019, the Varese firm pushes the exclusivity bar one notch higher. Limited to 350 units, bearing the Reparto Corse stamp, this version sets itself apart from the MV Agusta F3 800 RC 2018 with a livery dominated by black, accented by the Italian tricolor. Less flamboyant than its predecessor, it gains in sobriety what it loses in exuberance. A styling evolution that divides opinion, but one that anchors the machine in a more refined, race-bred register.

Beneath the fairings, the 798 cc inline triple stays true to its reputation. The 153 horsepower delivered at 13,250 rpm and 88 Nm of torque at 10,600 rpm place this MV Agusta F3 800 RC at the top of the middleweight supersport class. Against a Yamaha YZF-R6 or a Triumph Daytona 675 R, the Italian powerplant plays the raw character card. The 13.3:1 compression ratio, the short 79 mm bore paired with a 54.3 mm stroke — everything is designed to rev high with a ferocity that four-cylinder engines struggle to replicate in the lower rev range. The transition to Euro4 standards required modifications to the cylinder head, valve train, and six-speed gearbox, without sacrificing any horsepower. The SC Project exhaust system, with its titanium headers and carbon silencer, unleashes the triple's unmistakable voice. A raw, almost organic sound that alone justifies choosing Varese over Hamamatsu.
The ALS steel tubular trellis frame, the short 1,380 mm wheelbase, and the contained 165 kg dry weight form a nimble, almost edgy package. The Marzocchi inverted fork and adjustable Sachs monoshock provide a decent compromise between track precision and road compliance. The Brembo brakes, with twin discs and radial-mount monoblock four-piston calipers up front, deliver impeccable stopping power. The seat perched at 805 mm and the 16.5-liter tank serve as reminders that this sportbike has no interest in catering to smaller riders or long-distance enthusiasts. With a claimed top speed of 240 km/h, the F3 800 RC holds its ground without breaking a sweat.
On the electronics front, the equipment lives up to the MV Agusta F3 800 RC's spec sheet. The MVICS 2.0 system incorporates a ride-by-wire throttle, an eight-level adjustable traction control, and four engine maps, including one fully customizable. The EAS quickshifter, fitted as standard, allows clutchless gear changes. The level of rider aids here is worthy of Superbike, which is reassuring when you consider that the 153 horsepower arrives with typically Italian directness. Each unit is delivered with a carbon seat cowl, Ergal footpegs, anodized aluminum covers, an MV Corse paddock stand, a Reparto Corse bike cover, and a numbered plate on the triple clamp. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the package.
Then there's the matter of price. At 20,990 euros, the MV Agusta F3 800 RC 2019 positions itself well above its direct competitors. That's the price of exclusivity and artisanal craftsmanship, not the best performance-to-price ratio. For a dedicated track rider, a Yamaha R6 will get the job done for far less. But for the enthusiast seeking a rare supersport with a unique engine character and impeccable fit and finish, the F3 RC has very few rivals. You can regularly find used MV Agusta F3 800 RC models across all model years, from the 2015 or 2016 versions through to the 2020, 2021 editions, or more recent ones like the 2022, 2023, and 2024. The AMG version, even more exclusive, remains a collector's item. Whether we're talking about the MV Agusta F3 800 RC limited edition or the standard version, this Italian machine is made for those who refuse to ride like everyone else.
