Overview

For motorcycles wanting to continue their careers on European soil, 2025 is the year of the Euro5+ cut. On the MV-Agusta side, things are seen differently. The focus has been on commemorations. Specifically, the 80th anniversary of the creation of Meccanica Verghera.

For this occasion, a whole series of models are presented in a special Ottantesimo series. Including the Brutale 800 RR. MV-Agusta applies a specific livery to it, as is customary in red Ago and silver grey… far too close to the standard model's paint scheme. To really find a difference, you have to scrutinize the details, such as the vintage logo of the brand (revised for the occasion) and the numbered plate on the bottom of the tank.

This allows you to identify one of the 500 copies of this limited series. A certificate of authenticity will also be provided to attest to its pedigree. A small piece of the manufacturer's history thus roams the skin of the Brutale, before its 3-cylinder engine awakens desires and its 140 horsepower. The transition to E5+ has not affected the technical data of this counter-rotating crankshaft engine. Still 140 horsepower at 12,300 rpm and nearly 9 mkg at 10,250 rpm. Not bad for an 800.

Especially since the first Brutale 800 RR appeared 10 years ago and already produced this level of power. Since then, the competition has still not done better or equivalent. The Ottantesimo also brings a new clutch requiring half the effort on the lever.

The 800 Brutale RR also features extensive electronics with 4 Riding Modes, the setting of the throttle response, torque, engine braking and engine response, 8-level traction control, ABS in two modes (Sport or Race) with Cornering sensitivity, a 6-axis IMU, an anti-stoppie, a wheelie control, a launch control, a cruise control, a 3rd generation shifter, a headlight with cornering light system and a 5.5-inch color TFT screen. Well, I’ll be…!

Above all, a Brutale is its engine, its monobrach, the 3 beveled exhaust pipes over a filthy autoclave pot (as on almost all modern bikes), the essential frame half trellis tubular steel half aluminum plates, Marzocchi, Sachs, Brembo and a design that attracts attention in all circumstances. It’s also a price that will make you slap your nose, which the Ottantesimo label will not fail to sting you for.
