Overview

A grande dame says goodbye. A motorcycle like they don’t make anymore: a large roadster with a smooth and muscular 4-cylinder without violence on the surface or an underlying fighting spirit; just power and elegance, as proudly presented by the CB 1300 for nearly twenty years. But it’s the end. Honda closes its story with this Final Edition.

This motorcycle has maintained the archetype of the roadster until the very end in its most obvious definition. Nothing futuristic, manga or tortured. A raw and affirmed presence, timeless, directly descended from the Big-One of the 1990s. Moreover, to confirm its lineage to the past, this latest “Graphite Black” color takes its inspiration from the first year of the CB 1000. The CB 1300 SF also has a “Final Edition BIG-1” sticker on its tank, silver finish for the fork and swingarm, and a gold transmission chain.

Its engine is a good, large multi-cylinder with double ACT, 16 valves, a central timing chain, and guarantees a power of 113 horsepower; with 11.4 mkg of torque at its disposal. This engine doesn’t need to be whipped - it’s the kind of mechanical unit that propels you without needing to be provoked. Time has not shaken it while the technology around it took it towards more possibilities. Today, it is surrounded by an assist and anti-dribble clutch, three Riding Modes (Standard / Sport / Rain), a cruise control, and invites the optional quickshifter. Consider that the first model (2003) only offered ABS... as an option.

The chassis has also managed to preserve its philosophy with a steel double cradle frame, classic Showa suspension components (non-inverted fork and two lateral shock absorbers), axial brake calipers from Nissin to bite with their 4 pistons on 310 mm tracks, a more modest rear braking system with a 256 mm disc assisted by a single piston, and an aluminum swingarm of beautiful section.

It seems that this motorcycle has stopped in time, preserving the best of its existence. Even the speedometer has (almost) resisted the passage of modernism. Only a central digital window has imposed its place to display the fruits of technological evolution. All lighting has been switched to LEDs. As standard, it also includes heated grips.

She and her three sisters will be built in 3,400 units, for a price equivalent to 10,800 euros. Honda is taking its time to manufacture them, in order to ensure both sales and quality. Production could extend until October 2026 if necessary. A final lineage that will only be available in Japan.

The large roadster was otherwise conjugated in times past. A time when Yamaha XJR 1300, Suzuki GSX 1400, Kawasaki ZRX 1200 and CB 1300 presented themselves as barons of the road. Then the streetfighters came to chase them from their thrones. In Japan, the story has lasted until here. And fades away with style as the Super Four concludes its path with four models. This one, its SP version with Öhlins suspensions, the Super Bol d'or bodied version and this latter also in SP - The sisters I was talking about earlier.
