Overview
The Tri Glide is a very particular machine. You’ve all seen it, it’s a trike. But it's primarily the only factory trike in the world. Harley introduced it to France in 2014, five years after restarting its production in the United States. For the Milwaukee manufacturer, this machine holds a special place, inscribed in its history. Indeed, Harley produced trikes for almost half a century, from 1932 to 1973.
Introducing the Tri Glide to our market is a beautiful initiative; almost a challenge. Based on the Electra Glide Ultra Classic to which a specific rear structure, two car wheels, characteristic braking, and a large King Tour Pak trunk have been grafted, this machine is sure to turn heads. Its mass exceeds 560 kilos and its width is 50% greater than an 1800 Goldwing. A beautiful piece! With its three wheels, the Tri Glide offers an incomparable riding experience.
The Harley trike has benefited from all the developments of the Rushmore project. Let's mention the BOOM! multimedia system - which was upgraded in 2019 to the GTS version, faster, more efficient, with a much better screen rendering, Apple CarPlay, and simplified navigation - , the Batwing fairing with a central air intake, the interconnected ABS braking, the improved passenger seat, the One Touch philosophy for easy opening of the various compartments on board, Daymaker LED headlights, a 49 mm fork, and a list of equipment as long as the rear train.
In 2020, the focus shifted to driving assistance systems. The Tri Glide Ultra, like its Freewheeler brother, is equipped with specific RDRS. It benefits from an improved cornering electronic interconnected braking system (C-ELB), an improved cornering ABS system (C-ABS), an improved cornering traction control system (C-TCS), and a cornering residual torque control (C-DSCS).
While we’re on the subject of silicon, let's clarify the possibility for this Harley to communicate with a smartphone to inform the owner about range, fuel level, mileage, quite a bit of additional information, warn if it experiences a shock, or alert when it is moved in a questionable way, outside of a delimited area. This system is called H-D Connect, provided for one year and then can be extended by subscription.
The highlight since 2017 has been the introduction of the Milwaukee-Eight engine. Installed here in its Twin Cooled version, which means it is partially water-cooled. Imposing displacement, 4 valves per cylinder, various improvements, and the mechanics now output 16 mkg of torque, almost 1 mkg gained from the previous 107 version. This provides even more comfort and serenity to the relaunch of this imposing machine. To discover the Milwaukee Eight engine in detail, click here ->
A trike, in addition to its very typical riding style, can give you some amenities (and drawbacks) that are only found on a car. The Tri Glide is equipped with electric reverse gear, a 124-liter trunk, a parking brake, and stability impossible on a two-wheeled vehicle... just like the lean angle. Original, with a touch of prestige, the 1868 Tri Glide Ultra is also not within the reach of novices. Besides its riding style to discover, the machine requires a substantial wallet with its entry ticket exceeding 45,000 euros. Particularity: it can be driven with a car license, which allows access to a wider panel of connoisseurs.
