Overview

The Tri Glide Ultra isn't alone on the "factory" trike market. A brother comes to support it, but in a much more unrestrained way. While the Tri Glide Ultra exudes pleasure, the Freewheeler smells strongly of hot rod. A noticeably lighter machine in every respect: streamlined design, 57 kg lighter weight, and a relieved price of almost €7,000. The two machines are distinguished by their two-wheeled rear train but their vision of the road differs significantly.

And their attitude too. In 2023, it becomes tougher, with a whole selection of blackened parts. The front, the headlight fairing, the tank console, the manual and foot controls, the engine and exhaust exchange chrome for darkness. Its rear is also more muscular, with the wheels going from a 15-inch format to an 18-inch format.

Like its elder, the Freewheeler is powered by the Milwaukee Eight twin. No liquid cooling for its cylinder heads but the essentials are there: large displacement, 4 valves and 2 spark plugs per cylinder, sufficient power and torque that rips. Since 2019, this 'hybrid' machine has enjoyed the good graces of the MoCO. At the engine level, it moves up a notch with the 114 ci version. All figures go up: 1868 cm3 of metal devouring 16 mkg of torque.

To ensure that the dynamics can handle all of this, the trike was previously equipped with the 'Reflex' interconnected braking system including ABS, a traction control system (TCS), a torque control system (DSCS) and a connected front / rear braking system. All of this moves up a level with the RDRS specific to Trikes with: - Improved cornering interconnected electronic braking system (C-ELB) - Improved cornering ABS system (C-ABS) - Improved cornering traction control system (C-TCS) - Improved cornering residual torque control system (C-DSCS).

Road holding is presented as boosted in efficiency with the Premium suspensions from the Touring range; and in ease of adjustment for preload. In addition to the possibility of "riding flat", the Freewheeler allows B license holders to experience new sensations. Hair and teeth in the wind, hands gripping the Mini-Apehanger handlebar and pulsations of the American twin. The duo is conceived, the trunk is also favorable to it. Its capacity allows it to accommodate two helmets. Available for several years in the States, the machine arrived in France at the same time as the M8 engine. They are sure to stand out and make those who ride them look at the road differently.
