Overview
Have you ever imagined what a sunset on wheels might be like? Not just a motorcycle, but a rolling institution, a chrome manifesto that shakes the pavement and conventions. The 2011 Harley-Davidson CVO Ultra Classic is exactly that: less a motorcycle than an autonomous American territory, a statement of style and comfort at €37,000.

Its heart beats to the rhythm of a large 45° V-twin, the Twin Cam of 1803 cc. With 96 horsepower and, above all, that monstrous torque of 148 Nm available from 3500 rpm, it doesn't seek peak power, but authority. The sound is a deep, regular rumble, a soundtrack that accompanies every kilometer. At the traffic light, the machine vibrates gently, reminding you of the raw power that lies dormant. It’s an engine for mechanical epicures, not for time-chasers.
But this Harley-Davidson is above all a full-fledged touring machine, a luxury liner like they don’t really make anymore. Its weight, approaching 420 kilos fully fueled, commands respect and a certain technique in slow maneuvers. Once launched on the national road, this defect transforms into a quality: an anchor-like stability, insensitive to gusts. Pneumatic suspension swallows imperfections, the integrated top case and side cases offer phenomenal storage capacity, and the adjustable windscreen sculpts a bubble of silence. At a maximum of 170 km/h, you are in absolute comfort, not in frenzy.
Compared to sporty roadsters or European GTs, the concept is radically different. Here, the journey is an end in itself, not a race against the clock. The belt drive is silent and maintenance-free, perfect for swallowing entire countries. For 22.7 liters of gasoline, the range is correct, but you stop more for the scenery than for the gauge.
This behemoth is aimed at the experienced globetrotter, the one who prioritizes style, presence, and comfort over pure performance on very long distances. It's the ultimate weapon for legendary road trips, a machine that tells a story with every start. An emotional investment far more than a rational one.
